as always... yes, when PS "stalls" on a version fix, let it be... it
could take 1 minute or 1 day, but you do want to let it finish. I didn't
let it finish on one of those 2 years ago, and I was forced to revert
back using my retrospect backup, and tech support to help undo my
impatience.

in most cases, its basically searching tables and making sure there
aren't errors OR copying/moving the data from one table to another -- at
least that's been my observation.
