Hi everyone, can anyone introduce one stress tester for the sputter target?
Because when we purchase some target back sometime it will crack after several
times using. It not sputtering system problem, we have confirmed. So we doubt
it's target issue?
Any information about it also welcome.

Hi! What's the density of the target, it's possible that when the
compression was not enough during the production, the density would be
lower, then the hardness would be not enough.

The argon is useful for cleaning your target before the reactive coating step.
If too much nitrogen reacts with the target you may have trouble sustaining an
arc. This condition is called “poisoned target”. This is worse on titanium
targets than other metals. Higher substrate temperature increases the reaction
rate with nitrogen.

You can have a violet colour with TiCN through adding CH4 into your chamber. The
tone of the colour is adjustable by means of adjusting partial pressures of the
gases.

Our Company, Vactec Coatings Inc., can furnish what you are looking for.  To
supply a unit to process your parts we would need the following details:
1.  Approximate size of part to be processed
2. The number of parts tobe processed in a time unit. (parts per hour/day)
3.  Is the entire part surface to be coated.
4. Can you supply a print of the part or better an actual part.
5. Where are you located? Our plant is in Michigan. Freight costs are major
consideration.

Hi Prabhakara

if the application does not need too much mechanical resistance, oxide or
oxynitride interference coatings can be solution but is really hard to achive
good color uniformity on complex shapes. If you need thicker coating, very hard
to achieve real blue but you can have from brown violet like colors by TiCN
eitherr using acetylene or methane+ Nitrogen

In terms of manufacturing, I am not sure -- for distribution, I believe
Kurt Lesker has distribution/sales in Asia.

The solar absorbers layers for thermal collector based in TiOxNy are very dark
blue. You can prepere it by grading the content of oxygen and nitrogen during
sputtering deposition from a metallic Ti target.
