I fixed a major bug in Force16. Get it either from the ClieSkinner
or the SkinDIA distributions. I've also done some minor fixes of
ClieSkinner and SkinDIA over the last month or so. Get it all at

I'm pleased to note that a T5-compatible version of SkinT3! (renamed
SkinDIA!) is in beta testing. (And I already have enough testers.)
Should be released in a matter of days.

The wireless icon is not a part of the SB skin, and so ClieSkinner
doesn't handle it at the moment. Sorry!

Hi,

Just downloaded ClieSkinner to try. Everything looks good except that
I'm having problems with the wireless icon.

I've tried every icon substitution setting available in prefs, but no
matter what I do, I can only get the wireless icon most recently
installed, regardless of which SB skin I'm using.

Am I doing something stupid? :)

Thanks,
Lisa

Well, the tricell area is the same as the MEST stamp, so if you
merge a tricell area from a non-MEST skin, you overwrite the MEST
stamp.

OK, I'm posting again b/c I was able to clarify something.
If I did the custom merge, to have one DIA skin for regular mode &
another for landscape mode, it only seems to work when I already had
the 2 cell skin showing b4 trying to meld 3 or more components. Will
test more. It seems that status bar that was checked off for 2ndary
customization i.e. made at same time as I chose diff DIA skin I chose
diff status bar; but sb shows for both regular & landscape mode.

Any questions let me know.

Now that I've spoken about my probs at length (hopefully it'll help),
I will add latest test (I had gone back until I fixed probs) it is all
good - so far - I just use lessons prev learned re: MESTamp & how it
acted/interacted.

I successfully got 2 box landscape skin to merge w/other regular skin;
which was prev merged w/MEST stamp i.e. Plazma in regular mode, Monet
in landscape & I'm gonna work on how things seem w/diff statusbars..

Pardon me if at this later hour I'm forgetting something, but what is
the diff between regular skins & skins converted to ST3 format?

Alex,

Yes,but...

If you merge something into a skin that previously had one skin's
status bar merged w/the MEST skin, & then you custom merge another
skin's landscaped 3 box skin; it seems to step on the MEST stamp & may
have even caused probs w/appsliprotate & statusbar files. It is almost
like turning MEST off fm the main app's program icon & not having the
skin still in memory (that old bugaboo of the MEST STamp not being
liked by backup programs...) & creating this custom 3box (the one that
in which MESTamp placed by default) would seem to be a conflict /
problem waiting to happen.

As I said prev. it could be a coincidence or come from a pre-existing,
non-related condition; but, I did have corruption in 3 db files that
were good b4 (I know, because prev backed up saved my assets)& I
didn't notice them being corrupted b4. The corruption shows up when I
backup using RightBackUp & the log file as well as alternate display
pref option shows just where the backup failure occured.

Hope this helps.

As far as I know, every possible combination in the custom menu
should work. If not, it's a bug.

Thanks for reporting this. Actually, it's a bug in all of my skins,
rather than a bug in SkinT3!. If you try it with a skin not made by
me, it'll work fine.

It seems that there is potential for bad results when you use the
Custom choice for landcape 3box & you are using MEST.

It may have been co-incidental or even a pre-existing condition, but
my adressDB.pdb & vpadDB.pdb & ZLauncherDB file were toast & had to
delete the 1st 2 & restore fm backup & had to reinstall ZL & recreate
prefs all over again <sigh, but that is the price I pay for having a
new toy to play with to feed my creativity).

Can you give some guidelines. I've been playing with it & am trying to
not only use it, but break it; BUT I still need some docs on the new
Custom stuff to make meaningful assessments i.e. know when it is
working & when it is a 'feature' (in MicroSoftSpeak).

Alex,

It shows up that way on my T3 as well & I tested it real time.
I use the original Grafitti 1, so when in landscape mode, I changed
into the 2 box mode & when I drew a number 3 in what should have been
the abc area - resulting in a B I got a 3 & vice-versa.

This was under 1.26. I'm working on 1.29 separately.

Hi Alex,

I may have noticed a possible problem with SkinT3 in Landscape Mode
on the T3. It seems to be across all skins. In Landscape Mode (Left
handed or right handed) the small "numeric" and "letters" icons that
indicate the area of the DIA are the wrong way around.

I assume this is a generic issue rather than just limited to my
install.

ok. Thanks Alex.

Paul
------------------

Well, the main thing is that Palm DIA skins contain dozens of
resources that need to be designed separately with the present
tools.  For the Clie, you need to generate six images (containing
various combinations of button states) and my skin generation
scripts take care of that.  So it's harder to generate a full Palm
DIA skin, which is why all the skins I've generated have been
partial.  Still, there are a number of full skins out there.

Moreover, the Palm is flexible as to which button goes in which of
the four places in the DIA area, and app icons can appear there,
too.  This means that something like the Layered Metals skin would
be hard to do, because there the way a button looks needs to depend
on where it is on the screen.

On the other hand, Palm DIA skins can adjust the sizes of various
regions, insert keyboards, and in that way are more flexible.

Hi Alex,

I notice that there seems to be much more flexible skins designs on
the Clie VG area that people develop. Is this because the API of the
DIA on the Palm's is quite restrictive in terms of what can be
changed/created (i.e. only backgrounds, keyboard changes - rather
than being able to create complete custom layout DIA's?

Thanks

Please post bug reports on 1.29 (available in the FILES area) here.
There is only one new feature, a custom merge that gives you a lot
of flexibility. As always before testing beta software, make a full

I've removed them now and instead added a link to zlthemes in the
