On D3, and probably also on the D700, you set "automatic DX cropping
off" just once and it will always interpret your 10.5 (and other DX
lenses) as fullframe lenses. No problem.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. This is one of the main things that bum me out about
java panos.
It's like watching all of those different logos and such that come right before
the start of a
movie (as in theater sort of movie). It gets really old quick (like after the
FIRST one) when
browsing through many panoramas.

it depends on how you crop the source images.

e.g. with canon 5d / shaved 10.5, if you use a 194 degree circle the
"largest" pano is 6600x3300.

if you use a 141 degree circle, the "largest" pano is 7400x3800.

so yes your d700 will make panos around 7000x3500 with a 10.5 :-)

Makes me wonder - when will we be able to include scent with panos?

The question was how to put sound inside a QTVR.
Not on a webpage.

Unfortunately there is no real cheap authoring tool for that on Windows.
On Mac its done in a couple of minutes with CubicConnector.

You can do it with Quicktime Pro and if you have Golive it is quite easy.

However in both cases you need a start sprite which you can get from Steven
Gulies site.

Yes it would be great to add scent to a pano, I've thought this many
times - one day !! :) I need to invest in a device to record sound,
they don't cost much - tis on my 'to get' list. That would of worked
well in the harbour.

It was a lovely day and I wanted to stay longer but had some shots
around the corner to take to which you can view here -
http://www.sphereworks.co.uk/hartland.php I think I might of posted
these here before. Anyway, it was hard work walking down and back up
that cobbled road. They did give me free use of the landrover but I
decided to take some stills which meant walking back up again.

Thanks for looking,

Pete

Loaded in just under 2 minutes for the whole page on my traffic
shaped link. Certainly comparable with similar sized QT panos and
possibly faster than some Flash ones I've seen of late - although
that could also be bandwidth or link related so not a fair test.

It was not smooth on panning thou. Pretty jerky.

It would be interesting to see a full-screen Java pano. Your sample Took
25 seconds to load fully - this probably depends on the connection speed
rather than on Java itself. panning and zooming were quite smooth.

Unfortunately there isn't much information about PTStereo. There is some in

So how should we understand this: Are the images tagged with the coordinates
of the wifi hotspot? Or is there a GPS receiver inside the card (which then

Long time ago I came across a page where someone recommended an insulated
lunch box ("cooler") or a baby diapers bag (where you could put your lenses
in the milk bottle holder). No one would steal a bag with presumably used
baby diapers ;-)

No, I don't use any of these (although I must admit that I liked the time
when my boys where babies and I could put all my equipment into the baby
carriage. http://erik-krause.de/bilder/alpen/alpen.htm probably never would
have been shot if I hadn't the carriage with me...)

Depends on what you consider "real cheap". I don't think 30 Euros (plus VAT)
is too much for a nice piece of software that can do much more than just
create QTVRs and put some sound into it...

Depends on the resolution needed - for many application even tagging
with a city name might be enough. Here in Istanbul I get the street name
displayed just by the closest station - which is quite relieable due to
the hight density of antennas here - too bad that it would be difficult
to connect my phone to my compact camera... ;-) CU Lars.

Erik you can have a separate soundfile on your webpage playing the
sound for the pano ( that is the way pleinpot makes it)

OR

you can incorporate the sound file in the .MOV file this is what
CubicConnector ( Mac only ) can do, even define directional sound
( similar to what soundSA was able to in the past)

Here's a photo showing how my pano head fits inside the camera bag
along with some spare batteries and other things. Yeah it's small,
lightweight and very easy to use.

Guys could someone pls confirm that to me.

I use to record videos with my Coolpix during the events I'm shooting as
panos,
so I could later save the sound track to add to my webpages or my Flash
files

BUT, after I've update to QT 7.5 yesterday,
QT crashes whenever I try to open the AVI files that come out of my Coolpix
camera :-(
On my old powerbook that I did not update and is still at 7.4 ... it works
fine

Thanks for any help

Best

The first iPhone used the same system instead of GPS and apparently it
is/was accurate enough to use with a street map system. For dense cities
with tall buildings it may even work better than GPS. But for rural
environments it would fail, especially here in the US with its dismal mobile
coverage. As far as I understand from the reviews, the card tags the GPS
coordinates in the EXIF. The data base had to be built with cars canvassing
all streets, like Google's streetview database. Amazing that such a labor
and gasoline intensive project can make someone money.

Thanks for your answer Erik. It's too bad there is no description on
this program, because it's already efficient. But I can't understand
some points :
when you do : PTSTEREO -h
you have the return : Usage : PTSTereo [options] file1 file2...

but when you give several good panotools script on file1, file2...
The optimization and result is on the last file.

Options are the key to understand ! Don't you think so ?
