Hi everybody,

I'm looking for a README file or tutorial that explain every parameters that is
possible in a .pto, .pts or whatever .pt* files

I've download the latest libepano13, but there is no documentation in it, and
I've not found information in the http://wiki.panotools.org.

I'm specially looking for the perspective parameters (-f1, -f2 ...) we can have
in input and output

Have I missed something ?

Thanks !

Hello,

I'd like to know if some of you have tried 360 video underwater ?

I think the best solution would be the use of 3 5DMkII, but if anybody has any
advice, I'd be glad to hear !

Best regards,

Are you looking for software to help you create floorplans or software that will
allow you to use floorplans and hotspots in a virtual tour?

Probably.

Anything is based on the PTStitcher syntax:
http://wiki.panotools.org/PTStitcher#Example_Script

Same for nona and hugin:
http://hugin.sourceforge.net/docs/nona/nona.txt

PTGui project file (PTS) syntax is not documented, but should be pretty
self-explanatory once you know the other ones...

If you want to use Java (who has it still?) you can use PTViewer 3. It
shows radiance format and FJPG images in an ADR manner...

Well we are all out of luck when it comes to a good stereo pano viewer -- with
features like we are used to with 2d panos. We should try to encourage the Flash
pano software makers to produce interlaced stereo versions. Actually the
Glpanorama Stereo viewer zooming works ok with the keyboard shortcuts, just not
with the right click menu I discovered later. This viewer might work on your Mac
if you install Windows -- then you can use Stereophoto Maker as well which
doubles as a viewer as well as being the most popular authoring program for
stereo stills. They say on the SPM site it works well on Macs with Windows
installed. Macs generally, like with stitching software, dont have much stereo
software (though for 3d film editing, eg with Final Cut Pro, there are state of
the art solutions).

>>>Is the ghosting you experienced with the other 3D monitor a hardware related
issue, is it caused by a bad polarising of the interlacing lines or
something else ?

The Iz3d monitor does not use interlacing. It has full resolution for both eyes
but significant ghosting issues. An intractable aspect of their technology I
think. But with certain stereo panoramas it looks really great -- but for most
it is not acceptable for that -- though many users are happy with it for games
in 3d.

>>Can you tell why you get flicker with your projection system and shutter
glasses, was the frequency of the flipping of the left/right images to low
(if I am right you need at least 120 HZ) or was it because there are
synchronizing problems between the projector and the shutter glasses ?

One way of projecting stereo is with standard DLP projectors, many of which can
project at 85Hz, using shutter glasses, but for stereo panoramas this means
using Opengl Quadro or FireGl cards with "Hardware quad-buffered" stereo
features. Lately this has become more difficult as Nvidia is pushing its 3d
Vision hardware/software and has disabled stereo for earlier -- less expensive
-- Quadro cards as they are not supported by the newer 3d vision drivers. But
you can use the older drivers. With my projector each eye is seeing images
flashing at half of 85Hz which means visible flicker. Newer 3d Vision certified
and other projectors can project at 120Hz which gives no visible flicker at 60Hz
for stereo for most people.

Hi All. I'm looking for recommendations (or a review) on lenses for D700s for
panos. I searched the archives here, but nothing turned up for me. In
particular I'm interested in sharpness and saturation differences between the
Nikkor 16mm, 10.5m, and 14-24mm and the Tokinas, as well as any feedback on
using them for spherical panos. I was thinking of the 14-24mm just because it
would mean not having to change lens to take a non-fisheye photo (as well as
getting the best standard reviews for quality), but not sure whether the
simplicity is worth the cost. Please feel free to point me towards a link if
this has been covered somewhere.
Thanks,
Matt

Yeah, I used to love it, had my entire HDR Panogallery done with it. But then
the images got bigger than 3k and the FJPEG compression artifacts more and more
bothering me. Still have the tutorial online how to setup PTViewer, though...

There's also HDView, that can do HDR re-exposing in realtime. But then again,
only PC, and only after installing an ActiveX component. The whole point was to
move away from all plugins, and have an HDR Viewer that is plain
HTML+Javascript, works on every virgin browser, as well as on iDevices and
whatnot.

But, then again, I would wish it would be panoramic. Actually I wish for KRPano
to pick up this type of "fake HDR by Exposure blending" - even if it's
Flash-based.

This was a joke.... first of all... I had to watch this on Flash based
Youtube video... secondly... did you see how the hand held the phone... and
the connection bars were all the way up! That is an impossibility in the
real world, since the antenna has been shorted by the hand... and no signal
can be found... which is probably the reason why the hand holding the phone
is a static image, and the image on the phone is ADOBE Photoshopped into the
phone image....

But yes... it would be a nice reality if the iPhone G4 were usable for
anything but laughing at iGod Jobs' latest customer support from hell
comments.

And as to the "no external plugins" part of the anti flashers... Google
Chrome will have Flash as an integrated part of the browser... so no more
external plugins there. Other browsers are bound to follow... but probably
Safari will have to stay behind if Jobs has anything to say on that front.

And there have been launched lawsuits against Apple because of the iPhone
flaws... the future doesn't look too good for Apple on that front right now.

But this ad you linked to, is fiction..as I outlined. The phone could not
have any connection if held like this... which is why they fake the whole
thing to make it look as if it is working :)

Sure there is bound to be big money, but the question is for how long they
can keep this going, due to lawsuits they are getting from the ad industry,
among those from Google if I am not mistaken.

It's looking like a mess right now.

Here the press release:
<http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2010/06/07iads.html>

And pls note that I don't make money *from* Apple
BUT
I want to make money *with* Apple

This new product, the iAD, is one more place to give me the chance to
produce advertising content !!!

And the first iAD from NISSAN is just great, as it has a 360 view from a car
, just like I dream,
and that will enforce more work to come to our door.

Today, I already spoke with 5 different Art Directors from Rio de Janeiro
advertising Agencies, and ALL of them agreed that it will increase the
chances to hire me to make new stuff for their agencie's clients !!!

So I just want to have more opportunity and get more jobs :-)

I think there's no reason to fight, if it can give us more support to
produce content for iDevices, Mobiles and etc ...

best regards
AYRTON

Hello Peter,

Thanks for your explanation, it is all clear to me.
I already use SPM on my iMac for authoring anaglyph panos. I started to use
this app in Parallels with WindowsXP installed but since I found out that
SPM also runs fine and very fast with OSX and Wine, I prefer to use the app
in OSX (with Wine I get a much faster startup of the app then in Parallels).

I wasn't aware of the viewer/player possibilities of SPM, as it turns out
SPM is the *must have* Swiss army knife for stereo content makers.

Best,
Wim

Yes please.... that will reduce the possibility of my wife getting any of
those. She already had Blackberry, nextel, normal cellulars, 2 landlines
wireless and wired... 3 laptops.... Too much is too much in her case, but
this comes with her work-territory.

But seriously though... it's good to see new developments, no matter how
buggy or bad these may be, and new possibilities for publishing one's work
should be embraced and nurtured.

... but Apple needs to wise up and get things right again if this is to
succeed.

There isn't much use of having a smart device, if it can't even get a signal
because the user holds it in the most natural way.... but then again...
"it's only a phone" as Jobs said... therefore people should not get upset
when nothing works. :)

Ayrton,
As much as I hate to say this I think you have the right long term outlook.. So
,now, it is becoming more clear why Apple has stepped back from Flash. Yes one
could take sides but then opportunity may or probably will be lost. As
individuals we cannot fight the wars of the corporate entities. Time , money ,
the masses and the legal system will do that.

If iOS is developed further to add more function without breaking any copyright
laws in the long run they will gain ground.. I would think it's very appropriate
to develop material for both sides until this gets sorted out. While many on
this group have exhibited opinions and feelings about all of this we will not be
the ones that decide the outcome..

We can however do what's necessary even if were not happy with it to do what's
necessary to secure our positions.. Isn't that what separate's the men from the
boys so to speak?

   Here the press release:
   <http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2010/06/07iads.html>

   AYRTON

It's actually JavaScript, not Java...

Pretty impressive viewer for a pure JavaScript approach.

I've been lurking for a while, and have learned a lot from you long-timers, but
I have a problem I can't figure out. I searched the archives for it, but only
found a couple of references to the problem and no answers.

I've just uploaded my WWP entry, and find that when it displays there is a 1
pixel white line through the image, at the point where the equirectangular .jpg
wraps.

My workflow is to do the raw conversion in LR2 on a Mac, export tiffs, merge in
PTGui Pro, outputting .psd file and layers, resolve overlap issues in PS CS5
outputting .tif, convert in Cubic Converter to cube faces so I can put
information/logo in the center of the nadir, and reconvert back to an
equirectangular jpg, final touches in PS, then submit to WWP, where it is
converted to Flash for display.

Can anybody tell me where am I picking up this white line, and how to eliminate
it?

My best to all,

Well, have you done it before?

I remember some old messages with similar problems. The cause was
resizing the image with more than one layer.
Flattening the image before resizing fixed the problem.

Hope it helps.
