I would welcome your abstract submission to this session and I think that
your research would blend very well with some of the other proposed papers.
As of yet there are no plans to publish to the session however I will keep
you posted should that change.

My research has focused on analytical methods that cross boundaries that
have been erected artificially by the science community to read the textiles
especially with respect to colors even if color is no longer visible.
Would the session organizers be interested in such a contribution?

A New Look at a Common Dilemma: Perishables and the Definition of

A Session in Memory of James Petersen

Boundaries can occur at all levels of social organization, between broadly
defined interaction spheres or between households within single villages.
Perishables, especially textiles, are shaped by the complex array of learned
behaviors that are transmitted within such bounded social groups. Therefore,
perishables are especially useful to explore how material culture traditions
are established and maintained, how they reflect broader aspects of their
cultural context, and how their boundaries are shaped. The papers in this
session will explore these concepts in more detail.
