Hello all,
Thanks to Lynn for the timely and appropriate
suggestion! I've deleted all previous spam posts from
the archive and edited the settings to make posts
moderated. Hopefully this will prevent further misuse
of the list.
On a more related note, however, I want to call
everyone's attention to a recent article of interest.
This will be of particular interest to folks curious
about Palaeolithic perishable technologies.
Hardy, B. L.
2004 Neanderthal Behaviour and Stone Tool Function at
the Middle Palaeolithic Site of La Quina, France.
Antiquity 78(301):547-565.
This recently published piece, as well as presenting
new data, has a nice overview (and references) of
evidence for the modification of some fiber
perishables by Neanderthals. There's no direct
evidence, but some suggestive use-wear studies.
Thanks, Ed
