Re: Digest Number 5   Message List

Dear PianoRoll

I have a circa 1972 Wurlitzer Player Piano, it has the neuematic
tubes to create air pressure.
My question is I am having some mechanical problems with it and cannot
get the roll mechanism to run.
I live in Atlanta Ga. Do you have any recommendations on who I can call
here in Atlanta, or other advice
you could dispense.

Thanks

Rafael

Hi
A few things I would like to address :

"Craig Brougher and John Tuttle have been staunch supporters
of me personally and also of my efforts to publish and distribute the
Piano
Roll Digest
on a regular basis since it's inception. Unfortunately, I failed
to pay my bills at AOL (for a very good reason) and they closed my site.
So, I tried to set up a new list with a new server. But since the
old URL was no good, people got confused and stopped sending in
articles.

I understand that this is all my fault and that I have no one
to blame but myself. My new goal is to establish a new presence
on the Internet that rivals my previous presence, so that I
can continue to offer the Piano Roll Digest to all interested
parties. The 'New' PRD will continue to be devoted to piano
rolls and related items. I encourage all interested parties
to contact me personally at tempola@...

or to post to the list

PianoRoll@onelist.com

The PRD website and the archives will be back online shortly

Please don't get the two confused. The onelist.com is an automatic
mailing
list, so please
make certain the posts are presentable.

I intend to keep the PRD an active a viable medium for exchanging
ideas and information about Player Piano Music Rolls and their
production.

Thank you for your time, and begging your indulgence,

I will be away for about a week. Since the mailing list is automatic,
the
digests will continue anyway, so please send in posts.

Andy Taylor

Hi, Andy.
My only comment must be that I've never looked at the PRD as anything
save
what it is: a forum similar to MMD, but with a slightly different focus;
Piano rolls specifically, rather than ALL mechanical music. Both have
their proper place, and are appreciated, at least by myself. Thanks for
your work in keeping this Digest coming.

Regards,

Bob

Thank you Bob, I appreciate that!

I am a fan of Douglas Henderson, and he has on more than 1 occaision
panned MMD. I am new to the Player Piano world, and subscribed to your
news letter to become educated.
What is the Story with Doug ? He keeps claiming he does not get the
Recognition he deserves. I got his roll Mephisto Waltze and it is
Really good, but then I am new at this. I think you sell rolls too ?
What is your URL ?

Thanks for everything,

Scott Beebe
Merrimack, NH.

=====================
I can't speak for Doug, But generally speaking:
The sad fact is Scott, that many pianists/arrangers feel unappreciated.
Many people don't realize that it takes 18+ hours to arrange a three
min. roll.
I have to fight that feeling all the time. if I don't, It
will reflect in my music. I can't afford to let that happen.

It's a sad fact in the music world that most performers
has much more recognition once they are deceased.

my new URL (until my domain is up)
http://home.i1.net/~tempola

Please excuse the mess. the site is not completely uploaded yet.

Hi Andy.
I am one of the guilty ones who didn't post much, but not because of MMD
or any personalities, simply because I have been very busy with a full
time job, a high school senior and college junior, a devoted wife, my
church, and then the hobby, not necessarily in that order. I commend
you for the effort, and admire you because you showed me that you are
not only human, but a real man! Best wishes in whatever follows.
Regards,
Tim Johnson

Thank you Tim!
