Hi Kim,

Thanks for the mail. I allow myself to CC this email to the PoyNote mailing list, to share our discussion with others.

Here come the answers:

I mentionned somewhere sometime long ago: it comes from the decoration on top of ancient Vietnamese bronze drums. They are doing some short of rice crushing. For better explanation (officials ones, not those that come from an tech guy), you should do some research on the net.

You mean you want to be able to select which is the alarm sound? If yes, it is already in the todo list.

I will add this to the todo list.

I'm aware of this problem. I myself use the app in a regular basis for keeping important informations. It is painful for me as well each time I have to change the database format.

However, I consider the app in its beta stage, and thus the database format is not yet stabilized, that's why I spend more time on developing new features other than maintaining compatibilities with old ones.
Please grant me some more time to finalize all the planned things, and I will add the code to maintain the backward compatibilities with older versions.

Just a small note: The next version of this app will allow you to export the items' data as external card files (ie. text file for text and table items, probably JPG/PNG file for drawings as well if I can work it out). I expect that such feature would be, first, a way to maintain precious data against eventual instability of this app, against "unwanted" :-) database format change, and second, a way to manipulate the PolyNote data on the PC.

That is coming, that is coming :-)
