MPEG-4 won't play.   Message List

I have loaded the latest Quicktime.
When I have tried to play an MPEG-4 sample Quictime will say it has
to close.
I have uninstalled, restarted the system and re-installed but the same
thing always happens.
I have XP Pro.
2.6 GHz P-4
1 GB RAM
Any ideas?
