If you use QT tocreate films & videos please consider:
Call for Entries
The Milwaukee Short Film Festival, a local festival with an
international reach, is organized and run by Milwaukee filmmakers to
give greater exposure to emerging independent and student filmmakers.
The festival is in its ninth year and boasts numerous jury and
audience awards - including a $1000 grand prize.
Short films (narrative, documentary, experimental and animation) under
20 mins are welcome.

Have you tried importing it into iDVD as it is? Typically, you don't compress
the video
until you are finished working with it in iDVD. Otherwise, the video gets
compressed
twice, which will cause a huge loss of quality.
Are you trying to transport the video from one computer to another? If so, then
either:
1) put it on a dual layer DVD (if you can).
2) cut it into two pieces (or cut out some unneeded footage) using Movie Player
and then
put it onto two disks.
3) connect the computers together and transfer it via cable
There may be other options if none of these is your issue.

I just saw this answer, Ron. Thanks. I'll give that a try. Apparently I have
to get the problem fixed because now that I am running and older version of QT,
I can no longer run iTunes. Argh. Why do they have to be bundled together????

I just got notifcation that the latest version of QuickTime disables Flash
content as a
default.
Go into your QuickTime preferences, under "Advanced" make sure the Flash
content is
enabled.
I don't know if this has anything to do with your problem, but you might want

With my current attempts on two different MAC computers my 16:9 & HD video
doesn't seem to work with Quicktime and iMovie is suspect as well.
Desktop
(10.4.8 / Dual 1GHz G4 (2mb L3 cache per processor) / 1.5 GB SDRAM /
Quicktime 7.1.3 / iMovie HD 6.0.3)
Laptop (10.4.7 / 1.5 GHz G4 / 1.25 GB DDR SDRAM / Quicktime 7.1.2 / iMovie
5.0.2)
1. I seem to only be able to import video from my camera (Sony Fx1) to my laptop
and NOT my desktop. I "target" my laptop and transfer the video to get it onto
my
desktop.
2. Video in iMovie & Quicktime is NOT smooth and "actual" time in playback on my
fully upgraded desktop.
3 On my laptop (not fully upgraded) video is fine on iMovie but in the export
option the Quicktime never is the right speed or smooth.
Next week I will be trying a 3rd machine that will not have upgrades for about
3yrs and I will try to do the whole import, edit, export, and playing with Final
Cut Pro
but in standard TV and regular DV.
I hope someone can direct me to either the information and solution OR a contact
that could possibly help me.

Try re-installing quicktime by going to www.apple.com/quicktime and

I've uploaded a screen shot of what I see no matter what video I
attempt to play on the latest version of QT. I am going out of my
mind trying to figure this out!
What I did was to download the older version of of QT and install
that. Now it works fine.

Hi,
I think you may be facing the same problem as me. Try to
download "Dumpster" from the apple site, and see if you can read
the "moov" entry. If not, then you will need to do manual editing to
the file.
For the "Dumpster", you may need to join the ADC (Developers)
site to be able to download.
Regards.

thanks for the URL, I will go to explore tonight. I took a quick look,
seems that all the repair tools is targeting on AVI or xdiv format,
none is repairing MOV file.
It depends what computer type you have (Mac or PC). There are quite a few tools
available
to edit movies.
Check out http://www.videohelp.com/tools
for a list of tools. Look for one that edits QuickTime. Some of them are free.

Thanks Ron, I cannot seems to get to the menu "Show Movie info".
This MOV file was captured by my Olympus C5060. I can play the other
movie clips recorded by the camera except this one. Of course, the
other file size is much lesser.
So I am wondering if there is any tools that I can go into the file
ans edit it.

Go to the Window menu, and select "Show movie info". It should show you the
CODEC
required to play it back.
You may need to install a special codec to play it back if someone used
something non-
standard.
If you check with the person that made the file, they will let you know what you
need to
play it.

I have the latest version of QuickTime and I run Firefox. More and more often,
I am getting an error message trying to run QuickTime videos, which causes
Firefox to crash. If I restart Firefox then sometimes the video I was trying to
watch runs, other times it crashes the program again. I'm wondering if this
sounds familiar to anyone--is there a known conflict between QT and Firefox
(most QT videos seem to play fine, BTW), or is it just something with my own
computer that is causing the conflict?

Hi - funny you posted this, I had the same problem today.
My situation was exporting a flash animation to QT Video from a Mac &
it puked on the PC.
What cured it was opening it on the Mac in QuickTime and saving it as a
self-contained movie.
If that doesn't work you could try some of the various export options.
Hope this helps.

Hello,
I am trying to open a mov file on a pc and am getting the message:
Error -2048: the file is not a movie file
The pc recognizes it as a quicktime file (icon appears), but
quicktime, or any other program will not open it.
Quicktime will play all of my other files just fine.
This file was burned to a dvd from Avid. Is there some codec I'm
missing?
Thanks!
This is probably due to file size, which is due to your compression codec.
Try using the MP4 codec and lower the settings until you get a satisfactory
compromise of quality, speed, and file size.

Hi everyoone,
I use a lot of quicktime movies on my website. I edit movies using
Adobe Premiere Elements, then export them as QT files. On the
relevant pages, I have a photo with a hyperlink to the QT file. The
problem is, when you click on the photo, it seems to take FOREVER for
the QT file to open (in a separate window). It also seems to take
forever to upload the files to my site. Are there settings I should
know about that will make the files upload and open more quickly? I'm
not particularly techo-savvy, but any suggestions and step-by-step
instructions would be greatly appreciated.
My site is www.shipgeek.com, and the QT files are located on my Liner
Home Movies page.
Thanks in advance!
Mark
