Description

The R1b-L21/S145 group's purpose is to advance deeper testing and understanding of L21. This forum is for members of FTDNA's R1b-L21 Plus project. We share detailed data on L21 haplotypes and relationships and evaluate new SNP discoveries that might apply. All L21+ people, including those that are L21+ by default, i.e. DF21+, M222+, L193+, L513+, etc., are welcome to this group and the FTDNA project. L21 is a Single-Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) on the Y chromosome. L21 is equivalent to S145, M529 and rs11799226. It was discovered in October 2008 and is downstream of P312+(S116+) in the Y DNA phylogenetic tree. It is uncertain if L459 and Z245 are upstream or not. ISOGG's placement on the Y DNA tree is here. The modal haplotype for L21+ is Ysearch record K9VGV.
Please check out the FILES and LINKS menu items on the left of the yahoo group screens. There is plenty of analysis on this group. There is a spreadsheet of Haplotype_Data under FILES that has extensive sorting, geographical classifications, GD calculations and other information.
If you are an FTDNA customer AND are L21+, please click here to join the project This is a public project where surname, origin and results data are shared.
Please consider deeper SNP testing under the Advanced Orders menu in your FTDNA account. There are number of newly discovered downstream SNP's. R1b-L21 is a large group so it is very helpful to determine what subclade of L21 you are in. L21 has a very large subclade marked by DF13. That is the first SNP to consider additional testing for.
Do not use this for non-L21 topics, promotion, a cultural agenda or to denigrate others. This can result in being banned without warning. It is important to stay on topic with the goals of the project.

Re: Big Nine subclades of DF13 and * / ** status
I agree L679 is already larger than some of these SNPs and has potential to grow significantly. But there are also more DF13** than proven by testing - most

Re: Big Nine subclades of DF13 and * / ** status
From Mike's earlier post, I counted a grand total of six R-DF13** people, so it isn't actually all the common. Suspect as R-DF13 subclades continue to "bush"

Re: Big Nine subclades of DF13 and * / ** status
David and Mike, Although I am keen to have L679 recognised as Public when it is proven to meet ISOGG criteria, I would not want to oblige people to test for

Re: MW R1b-L21 Spreadsheet Update
Mike, I just sent a message asking the admin to ask both of the Riley's to do so. Hopefully they will.
