This is a group for the members of Family Tree DNA's R1b-P312/S116 and Subclades Project to discuss topics related to R1b-P312's origin, age and geographic distribution. Additional focuses are to share detailed data on P312 haplotypes and relationships as well as evaluate new SNP discoveries that might apply to P312* paragroup people. The R1b-P312* paragroup consists of people that are P312+ but negative for all known downstream SNP's. However, all P312+ people, including DF27+, U152+, M222+, SRY2627+ and L21+ people, are welcome to this Yahoo Group and the FTDNA project.
P312 is a Single-Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) on the Y chromosome. P312 is also known as S116 and rs34276300.
The modal haplotype for all of P312 is in Ysearch record XQJ7H. The modal for DF27 is 53ZBP, for U152 it's QM4ES and L21 is K9VGV.

If you have not deep clade tested, please consider doing so. The R1b-P312 clade of people is very common across Western Eurasia so it is important to determine what subclade of P312 that you fit it into. If you have not deep clade tested for several years, please also look at your upgrade options as a number of downstream SNP's have been discovered, such as L21, L238, U152, DF27 and DF19.
The group's purpose is to advance deeper testing and understanding of P312. Do not use this for non-P312 topics, a cultural agenda or to denigrate others. This can result in being banned without warning.
