Hi Todd,
It has the stock focusing screen. It's already been sold and shipped.

Hello Danny,
What is the focussing screen like? Is it clear type or does it have that awful
fresnal focusing screen? It's just about impossible to focus on a star with
that.

Hi all,
I've decided it's time to let go of it. If anyone's interested, please let me
know. Included are:
- Olympus OM-1 (MD) body, great condition, everything functions perfectly
- Zuiko 50mm lens, excellent condition
- Tamron 28mm lens, excellent condition
- Two Olympus T-rings
- One Parks T-adapter
- Remote cable release
- Small carry bag for the camera and one lens
I'll be placing it on eBay but thought I'd let this group know first. It would
be a nice little package for someone just starting or wanting to relive the
"old" days. :-)
$50.

Hi folks,
I shot this image of NGC 6822 this past June and wasnt really happy with my
first round of processing. I did a "redeux" and it seems to be a bit better.
This is an LRGB of 120-50-40-50 minutes (RGB binned) with my FSQ106N and
ST2000xm on an EM-200 mount from Joshua Tree National Park. Comments and
criticisms welcome.

Hi folks--this object has driven me nuts over the last couple of years trying to
capture it in tri-color narrowband. This week I gave it another shot and got a
bit closer than I have before in getting a shot I can live with (for now) :). I
tried the "tone-mapping" method that was discussed earlier (thanks J-P from
www.astroanarchy.com) and it seemed to work out better for me (at least on this
object).
My version:
(Ha) SHO with Ha (enhanced with SII and OIII data) as a luminance layer. 100
mins Ha, 240 mins of SII, and 140 mins of OIII, all unbinned. Takahashi TOA130
with reducer, Tak NJP mount, ST10xme camera. Guided with a stellarvue SV70 and
SBig remote guide head. 20 minute subs and the guide exposures were 4 sec.
Imaged from my POD from Redlands, california oer the nights of Sept 17, 18,
2009. Imaged was captured with Maxim DL, and processed with Maxim DL and
Photoshop CS3.

Hello fellow Ras,
If your interested or know someone looking for a entry level CCD camera, I have
an add on Cloudy Nights forum for a Starlight Xpress SXV-M7 monochrome camera
for sale. I'm willing to negotiate the price a bit. I realize the price point
for the Meade counterpart may be a dominant factor but the SXV cam is actively
cooled unlike the Meade which makes it a superior lower noise camera and has
many features that go with a higher end camera; Built in Star 2000 to image and
autoguide simultaneously with the same camera chip(no need for extra guide cam),
port on camera for low cost Starlight Xpress separate guider(only one comupter
needed to control both) and software features like "Sum and Slew" which is
analogous to SBIG's "Track & Accumulate" in which sub exposures can be averaged
or added together while being alligned during imaging along with calibration
frames. Thanks for your interest.

So, my new camera all but ruined the weekend for imaging…NOT!!!
As Daniel said, Saturday night gave us a few hours of “good
enough” weather to scratch the itch.
Here’s the result of my first spin around the block
with my new QHY8. I definitely bought a camera with plenty of room to grow
into! Like pants 40 sizes too big!!!
Nebula IC 59 and IC 63 with Gamma Cassiopeia--- Imaged from Joshua Tree
National Park on August 18, 2009, with a Takahashi FSQ106N and ST2000xm camera
on an EM200 mount. Guided with a remote guide head/e-finder. LRGB of
160-60-60-60 minutes respectively. Total exposure 5.6 hours.

Hi Folks,
VDB142, imaged from Redlands, Ca with a Tak TOA130 and NJP mount/ST10xme with
Astrodon Filters. HaRGB of 170/30/30/30 minutes respectively. 10 minute subs

different rendition that what you're probably used to seeing-- still, I enjoyed
this particular interpretation---:)

The pads labeled Testerman, Lord or Aragon are ALWAYS available. Those folks haven't been out to GMARS in quite a long time. New equipment???? Oh great, there goes the weather! hahahaha

Actually Joe, there will probably only be a handful at GMARS, many are heading over to the Julian Star-Fest, now that I said that, do I have the right month......? I think so, this is August..

Hi Joe,
Mt. Pinos usually has almost no wind on Summer nights. There's typically a
breeze throughout the day that disappears at or shortly after sun down. The
strongest wind last night was maybe a brief 3 MPH. It can vary greatly during
other times of the year.
I'll probably start heading back to GMARS after the Julian Starfest.
Best,
Danny

Pinos was great again. It was between 52-56F all night
(went to bed at 5am). I also had the opportunity to look through Jon Schwartz's
28" Dob all night. The views were amazing... the new black spot on Jupiter
was easy to see, globules and faint nebulosity all through M8 and M17, two of
M57's inner stars, M13 filled the eyepiece with individually resolved stars...
it was amazing.

And here's a view of the parking lot on Saturday morning (7/18):

By Saturday afternoon and evening, there were easily twice as many people. That
can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your outlook. :) The cars parked
around the perimeter are mostly from people who are camping several hundred feet
away or who came up early in the day for hiking or biking. Everyone else is
there with a telescope.
For anyone who does go to Mt. Pinos, keep in mind a few things:
- There are only pit toilets.
- There's no running water.
- There's no trash service. Bring a trash bag, use it, and take it with you when
you leave.
- It can be pretty active at night with people, cars, and white light until
about 11pm or so.
- Those who are imaging tend to gather toward the north/northeast end of the
parking lot but there are no rules to that effect... set up wherever you want.
- The "crowds" are there pretty much just during the Summer months. It's much
different in the Spring and Autumn... and so are the night-time temps... which
is why GMARS is a much better option at those times of the year! :)
Best,
Danny
