RE: arbitrary stimuli

Hey Jonathan,
no issues with this--it can be anything really, but if you wanted to, go with steele & hayes '91.  they have a great number of line drawing in there to use if you so like.  I've used them for my Bijou study and some recent approach/avoidance work in psych record (I believe) has used these as well.  Let me know what you are thinking of and I'd be happy to help in anyway you need.  Good seeing you at ABA but missing you at WorldCon right now...with Berens in Amsterdam for the night!

Best, Tim

Subject: [RFT] arbitrary stimuli

Hey all. I’m putting together some arbitrary stimuli for testing derived relations in kids with autism but have never done anything with arbitrary stimuli before. Would anyone mind sharing knowledge on how folks create them? Is there any empirical precedent? Thanks in advance,

Jonathan

Please share that with me as well.

We have some (unpublished as yet) evidence that EA is higher in early adolescents girls and that it is more highly related to internalizing and externalizing problems for girls.  Greater understanding of these gender differences are of great interest to us.

Hi all:

I'm collaborating with Michael Addis on a paper critiquing current
approaches to studying gender and masculinity with men and proposing a
more functional contextual approach. In a section on new directions,
we wanted to discuss some work on emotional avoidance using RFT,
stimulus equivalence, or behavior analysis. We would greatly
appreciate it if anyone could direct us to a review paper or some
seminal works that can aid us in our literature review.

Thank you in advance.

Best,
Matt
