The infrared port is IrDA on the laptop, which is
different from RMC's infrared signals. In theory you
can program lirc with irrecord to approximate the
reciving signal from RMC. However, I haven't tried
lirc myself, so I am not sure how accurate can lirc
approximate the reciving signals. On the RMC end, you
can pick any system, and work on the lirc end for
recording the irfrared values. Good luck
