The only difference between a Smoke Pearl Marten/Sable Marten and a Smoke Pearl/Siamese Sable is that the Smokes are the dilute forms of the Sables. They are the same genetic code except for the dd on the D locus of the Smoke Pearl and Smoke Pearl Martens. There is a higher probability of them being Siamese Sable and Sable Marten only because full density (D) is dominant over dilute (d).
Sable Marten................ at_B_c[chl]_D_E_
Smoke Pearl Marten... at_B_c[chl]_ddE_
Siamese Sable..... aaB_c[chl]_D_E_
Smoke Pearl......... aaB_c[chl]_ddE_
Even though they are in the grandparents lineage of your PW, your PW cannot carry Siamese Sable. A recessive gene cannot 'carry' a more dominant gene... and Sable (c[chl]) is dominant over PW (ch).
The Black Silver Marten (at_B_c[chd]_D_E_) must be the one who is carrying the Sable gene... and since she has produced self colors than her genetic code would look like this: ataB_c[chd]c[chl]D_E_

Hi Everyone,I have 2 babies and I thought they might be Smoke pearl Marten and a Smoke Pearl but I believe they are a Siamese Sable and a Sable marten. Mom is a Black Silver Marten and dad is a PW that has Siamese Sable in the Grandparents column of his pedigree. Is it possible the babies are a Siamese Sable and a Sable Marten?Sorry I can understand a lot of the genes but I get confused with the shaded gene rabbits. So if I sound Like I am asking the same questions I am sorry. I am trying to wrap my brain around all the "c" genes.Pam
