Re: [Rabbit_Genetics] why does this happen

Genes can be carry for many generations.    BEW white genes can go hidden on an agoutie color rabbit and be pass down for a long time never express themselfs until the pair up with somethng that makes them express.   Sometimes the pedigreeds aren't always right cause a lot of breeders out there stilll don't know what color there rabbits are that is why we get surprise in the litter.    Scott

I think it is a great idea also.We might be able to save someone a little time if we show what paths we went down and why.If we can help out our brother(LOL or sister) red lionhead lover to get to that pinnacle seat of breeding a BIS ,I say post those triumphs and tragedies!!!
I do have a question though. This has shown up twice in 2 different breeds with completely unrelated rabbits.
1st breeding is
Mossypossum' s Annesette( DM Broken Tort doe X Bluebonnet Lion's Fireball a F1 red Lionhead buck). His parents are a DM black Tort doe X Thrianta Buck.Fireball had awsome mane as jr and still has a small one 8 months later. He is dark red like the Thrianta
Had a litter of 4kits 3 DM ,1 SM SM is a dark red almost self colored rabbit with 4 white feet,a blaze on the face and a white collar around the neck. There were 2 Broken Red DM bucks and a DM SP or Choc point.(had a few guessing on her color.

2nd breeding is
F1 Red Holland Lop doe(Mom is Mossypossum' s Ghost REW Holland X Krall's R-7 a red Netherland Dwarf Buck.He has red x red breeding all the way back to great grandparents.
I bred the F1 Holland doe to a broken Orange Holland Buck,M2B's Dezzy. She has a litter of 7.2 broken orange,2 Frostys,1 tort, 1 very dark red (almost Thrianta red color) tort and 1 light red ,belly is colored red, almost solid baby with 4 white feet,a white blaze on face and the same white collar as the Lionhead baby.
My question is what is the name of the marked pattern of this rabbit and why is it popping up?There is no Vienna or BEW in any of my rabbits, but it looks like a Vienna Sport.
Thanks for any info. The red coloring on both the white booted babies is excellent! Bellies were also colored red.
Thanks
Tim Thompson
