Hope this is of some use....
1) Import bug:
If importing a file which just has Descriptions the import works ok.
Otherwise you get a "Description not found" error message using either
Description,Category or Custom.
Importing with both Col Description AND Col description2 (& Sep char)
works ok.
A way around this bug seems to be:
If input is Description,Category
Select custom and set:
Description to 1
Descr 2 to 4 (non-existant)
Col Category to 2
As long as Descr2 is not left at zero it seems to work.
2) Error message when importing text in error - minor bug.
If custom order is used and the order is reversed (Category,
description) the prompt New Category - add? shows the contents of the
description field in the prompt (rather than the category) - you think
you are adding a category with the content of a description. This is
disconcerting the first time you see it but the import works ok.
Perhaps just add a note to the release notes.
3) Saving new file has a bug
Select "Export the current list as a new file" A letter V in the new
database name is seen as an underscore eg. ShoppingVJ becomes New
Handy Shopper file HS2_Shopping_J.PDB.
Work around is to rename the file in windoze. (The database name seen
by HS2 is ok).
4) Kept getting Alarm-Midi error
I kept getting the following errors when modifying items:
Value of LIS:AlarmMidi must be found in the Midilist file. AND
MidiList key file is invalid. Key must be rebuilt.
I got around this once by abandoning the file and opening another file
from palm\user. I then closed it and reopened the first file. Also
closed and reopened Ratshopper.
A 2nd time I got aound the problem by reopening the file, exporting
the file then importing it from ratshopper data. I also closed and
reopened ratshopper.
I thought that it may be that the file may have been in an older HS2
format and the export could have updated it. However, I now think
that the problem is more likely due to which directory Ratshopper is
working in. The problem seems to occur after ratshopper has imported
a csv file. The default directory for that is
..Blackrat\Ratshopper\data. However it seems that ratshopper prefers
the csv file to be in the Ratshopper directory, rather than in the
data subdirectory, or any other directory.
If I moved the csv file to the ratshopper directory before doing the
import it appeard to avoid the MidiList error on subsequent imports.
All this was checked on a Win98 machine, but I have seen the Midi
error on a Win2000 machine also.
Hope this helps others.
Regards,
Victor.
