Hi everyone,

Since we all use Yahoo Groups to receive messages from this group, I thought I would let you know about a free service I found called Grouply. It is the best way I've discovered to access messages from all my Yahoo Groups. You can use this link to sign up: http://www.grouply.com/register.php?r=2239.

I am a member of so many groups that I found it very difficult to keep up with all of them. Grouply makes it easy. You can search and browse across all your groups at once and even view a cross-group event calendar. You can have one Smart Digest email (which I love) sent to you at the end of each day that summarizes what's going on across all your groups, highlighting what's interesting to you and hiding what's not.

I've found Grouply to be a huge time-saver for me and I thought it would also be helpful for others. Enjoy!

Hi,

I don't know Excel, but I'd suggest searching with Google for 'Excel tutorial'
and 'Excel Macro tutorial', choosing the first tutorials that you find easy to
understand - and learn the basics fast...

Best of luck,

Thanx Carl !!!
When i first time know about REBOL in feb 2006 , i loved this language very much and i looked to it as a programmer paradise and it will be an end of lots of suffer i face in visual and database programming using C/C++
My main aim in using memory locations is programming communication sessions between computer and external machines or devices linked to computer via serial ports, parallell ports,USB ...etc
also advanced  programmers consider it a flexible feature that THEY CAN ACCESS THE MEMORY LOCATIONS directly

I'm not a C programmer, but as far as I know there's no way to directly access memory locations with REBOL. And going by my vague memories of discussions about the issue in the past it could be very risky due to REBOL being a cross-platform language. Meaning there may be subtle (and not so subtle) differences in how REBOL stores data on the different platforms.

What were you wanting to do? There may be ways to do what you want already built into REBOL.

I don't think there's 'proper' code as such for the game. It'd need to be
different for every language it was written in, and different programmers would
write it differently in the same language.

My approach would be to start by working out how to draw a bat in a window.
Then how to position it differently, then how to move it up and down using the
keyboard or mouse.

Then draw the ball, then work out how to change its position from within a loop,
so it appears to be moving in a straight line. Then figure out how to detect
when the ball hits the edge of the window. Then how to detect when it hits the
bat, and how you should bounce the ball.

And finally, add a second bat, but under computer control, like the ball is.

Hello,

I'm creating a tool to use Rebol from remote computers (of course,
distributed as LGPL license).
My final target is creating a shell platform independent. Of course,
you can even execute standard shell commands.

In order to create platform-independent shell, I need many Rebol
scripts/functions that perform any kind of operation, without using
native shell commands.
The script should work just like any other standard Rebol command (
e.g.: list-dir, delete, delete-dir, etc....) but including more
extended, shell oriented, features (think about shell commands: they
are short for fast typing, with many options, etc...).

The integration between a complete set of commands and an useful
local/remote shell could take many advantages to advanced users,
programmers, system administrators, etc...

If you wish more info, please don't hesitate to make any question!

You can find more information at:
http://ale870.pbwiki.com

Thank you!

First of all: welcome!

As far I know, you need SDK to create exe files.

Hello,

I'm Alessandro and I joined to this group just to discuss with other
Rebol-fans :-)

I created an application in Rebol language, JellAP (Jell Application
Protocol): it is used to manage (download and start) remote
applications in a similar way as Java Web Start (JWS). Main difference
is JWS manages only java based applications, and JellAP will manage
any kind of programs/files. It is released as LGPL license.

http://ale870.pbwiki.com/Jell%20Project

JellAP is part of a bigger project, called Jell Project (Console
Manager development is in progress).

I'd like to get your opinions, suggestions, comments about JellAP.
More: you can find a forum related to Jell, general code-snippets, and
Rebol. In fact, I'd like to create some applications for the
real-world (common users, not only code-crunchers :-) (programmers!).

Hi Pete,

If you're on a Windows machine, a quick and dirty way to do that sort
of thing is to use autoit to click through the password screen, save
the web page, and then call a rebol script to parse the page for the
IP. Autoit is a great automation tool: http://autoitscript.com

If you're just trying to get the IP addresses, why not just use this
Rebol code:

	 Rebol []
	 parse read http://whatismyip.com [
		 thru <title> copy my-ip to </title>]
	 parse my-ip [
thru "-" copy stripped-ip to end]
	 alert to-string rejoin [
		 "External: " trim/all stripped-ip " "
		 "Internal: " read join dns:// read dns://]

I actually have a script that I run on my own webserver that returns
the IP, but whatismyip.com seems reliable. Hope that helps :)

Hi,

I'm trying to write a little script to access the admin pages embedded in my
router and parse out my current WAN IP.. but I can't figure out how to get past
the password dialog.. has anyone (here) done or seen this done anywhere?

As a test, I tried something like:

statushtm: read/custom http://192.168.1.1/Status.htm [post
"username=username&password=password"]

but the problem is I don't really know 1. what the actual variables are called,
and 2. whether this would even work if I did know. (It didn't work.)

TIA!

It's what the link says! But the best way to learn what a Blog is, is to
create one for yourself. Luckly most companies will do all the coding for
you. Just choose a template fill in some details and away you go. Google
has a free one if you don't know which to pick.

Back to your original question, a blog is like a personal diary. Except you
login to the blog page and write into it from there. It's not private
though and will end up on search engine pages (what people usually want).
People can also write into it if you want, which makes it a bit like forum
(kind of).

Off topic - If you ever want to talk about REBOL, there is a great forum (
http://www.reboltalk.com ) that gets a little postings than this one. You
dont even have to register to join.

Regards,
Leke.
