Dear Sean,
I have participated in the experiment. It is very interesting and useful.
P.S. I am currently a post-doctoral researcher at the Nagoya University, Japan.
Best regards

Hello!
I am experimenting with different ways to generate computer science
research paper recommendations, and I was hoping members of this
mailing list might consider participating in my study. In this
experiment, I am looking at the differences between recommender
algorithms in the kinds of research papers recommendations they
generate. I am looking for all kinds of subjects, including
experienced researchers/professors and students both from the field of
computer science and related disciplines.
For this experiment, I would ask you to provide me with the name of an
author who has published papers in the ACM Digital Library (yourself,
perhaps?). Based on a selection of papers from the author's
bibliography that you would choose, I would generate two lists of
recommended research papers and ask you to answer a few questions
comparing these two recommendation lists. In total, I expect it would
take less than 10 minutes to complete.
If you would like to participate, please visit this URL to begin:

I hope you will participate in this study! If you have questions,
comments, or concerns, please see the extra details below.
Thanks!
Sean

The extra details I am required to disclose (also known as "the fine
print"):
This research is being conducted by Sean M. McNee, Nishikant Kapoor,
and Professor Joseph A. Konstan from GroupLens Research, Department of
Computer Science and Engineering, University of Minnesota. For more
information about this research study, please contact my advisor,
Professor Joseph A. Konstan (konstan@..., 1-612-625-1831) or
me, Sean M. McNee, (mcnee@..., 1-612-624-8372).
There will be a consent screen for you to review before the experiment
begins. Your data will not be disclosed to anyone outside the
research group and only anonymous summary statistics will be
published. We don't have access to the full ACM Digital Library--only
a subset, so some well-known papers (and authors!) might not appear.
This email was sent to lists of academics and researchers we thought
would be interested in participating in this study. I apologize if
you feel this email was inappropriate; please contact me with any
comments or concerns. If you thought the study was interesting, I
highly encourage you to forward this invite to others you think would
like it.
