Automated Scheduling, Optimisation & Planning (ASAP) Group

EPSRC Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Modelling Variation in Automated Decision Support

Applications are invited for the above post, one of two researchers
to be employed on an EPSRC funded project jointly held at the
Automated Scheduling, Optimisation and Planning (ASAP) Research Group
at the University of Nottingham, and the Centre for Computational
Intelligence (CCI) at De Montfort University.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Research Fellow
at De Montfort University, Leicester, on combining various aspects of
fuzzy methods for modelling the variation in expert decision making
to enable a new framework for consensus modelling amongst multiple
experts. In particular, this post will develop new type-2 fuzzy
models in which a range of expert opinions are combined into a single
overall collective decision. This will lay the foundations for an
entirely new form of automated decision-support utilising fuzzy
ensembles, which could make a significant contribution to future
developments of fuzzy expert systems that model multiple experts
reaching consensus.

Candidates must have a relevant PhD, together with experience in
fuzzy methodologies, good programming skills and the ability to
articulate research in research papers.

The successful candidate will be expected to travel between
Nottingham and Leicester on a regular basis, as well as present the
results of their research at international conferences.

Salary will be £23,457 per annum. This post will be offered on a
fixed-term contract for a period of three years.

Candidates should send a completed application form (available at:
http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/hr/vacancies/applicationform.pdf),
together with a detailed CV and the names and addresses of two
referees, to Ms C Fletcher, School of Computer Science and IT, The
University of Nottingham, Jubilee Campus, Wollaton Road, Nottingham,
NG8 1BB. Email: cqf@.... Closing date: 31 March 2006.
