Determining Organizational Culture   Message List

Hello Group Members

Determining organizational culture is a simple but very powerful
application of the Repertory Grid Interview. It is an early step in
organizational change and in the development of management
competencies.

It requires senior management support and close attention to the
consulting environment if it is to be more than just another HRD
exercise. If the results will be used for development of management
competencies it will requires the interviewees to compare work
colleagues' job effectiveness. That requires care in setting up the
interview environment, skills in rapport building and an assurance of
interviewee privacy.

So, while it can be a very simple low tech application of the
repertory grid interview, the call on consultant's project management
and implementation skills can be considerable.

There has been some discussion on this subject in the Group recently
which prompted me to prepare a web page to show how a project of this
nature might be implemented. It is at
http://www.enquirewithin.co.nz/organizational_culture.htm and entitled
`Determining Organizational Culture'.

I hope you find it useful

John
