Re: Price Drop for Enquire Within

Dear Alex,

Thank you for your positive comment about Enquire Within.

I have been thinking about your need for users to change some
statements to another language. Actually that should not be difficult
as long as the changes are limited in scope. It may also meet the
needs of many who want German and French versions of Enquire Within.

Enquire Within is word intensive (there are a great number of
prompts) but designed so that most of the prompt wording is contained
in a separate table which can be fairly easily translated to another
language provided that that the translator has a good knowledge of
grid, English and the new language. But, structural differences in
language can make implementation quite difficult and those
differences can impact on the programme code. Additionally, if
translation of the help system were required, that would make the
process of bringing another language version to market an expensive
proposition.

But your idea may be a good interim solution, fairly easily
implemented. The solution would enable the interviewer to change the
relevant prompts as required for the purpose so that the interviewee
could, in effect, be interviewed in their own language.

Other user group members may have some comment to make on this? I
would very much like further feedback and, given sufficient support,
would be prepared to look at this as a high priority.

In order that we don't clutter up this list with a lot detailed
material I will contact you `off line' about this.

Kind Regards

John
