and "Research_Practice" Members

Dear All,

JRP is about to complete 3 years with the publication of Volume 3,
Issue 2, which is due in October 2007. It is going to be a special
issue on "interdisciplinary education," being edited by Anne Dalke
(Department of English) and Elizabeth McCormack (Department of
Physics), both from Bryn Mawr College, USA. The first 3 years are
considered rather crucial for a new journal. We have not only survived
but published full issues regularly, including two special issues:

JRP, 1(2), 2005: Integration Research for Natural Resource Management
in Australia (Editors: Gabriele Bammer, Deborah O'Connell, Alice
Roughley, Geoff Syme)

JRP, 3(1), 2007: Students' Reflections on Doing Research (Editor: Mark
A. Earley)

# INTERNET PRESENCE

In these 3 years, the journal has secured its presence on the
Internet. A simple Google search on "Journal of Research Practice"
produced 18,600 results today:

October 2005: 534 results
June 2006: 838 results
July 2007: 18,600 results

The journal's Web access statistics are now available at:

# PEER EVALUATION ("AU Press Imprint")

You may recollect, we have recently submitted JRP for an independent
assessment being conducted by the newly formed open-access venture, AU
Press, Canada (http://www.aupress.ca/). In the coming weeks, AU Press
will send out requests to competent persons around the world to
evaluate JRP as a whole. The results will be available in about 2
months. If we clear this evaluation, we will earn the "AU Press
Imprint" for the next 5 years and benefit from the global activities
of AU Press.

# FINANCIAL SUPPORT

As you know, JRP charges a copyediting fee of USD 100 for accepted
submissions, reducing or waiving it in deserving cases. We also depend
on the financial support of our sponsors to meet the expenses of
online publication. JRP is currently supported by the following four
institutions (from four different continents!):

* Center for Science in Society, Bryn Mawr College, USA

* Lugano Summer School of Systems Design, University of Italian
Switzerland, SWITZERLAND

* Facultad de Administración y Economía, Universidad de Santiago de
Chile, CHILE

* Xavier Institute of Management, INDIA

While thanking these sponsors through this message, I request them to
continue their support to JRP. I also invite other institutions to
support JRP by paying an annual amount within USD 100-1000 towards
meeting the cost of online publication of this journal. There have
been some suggestions on improving the JRP Web site. We can implement
this if the financial situation improves.

The payment instructions are given on the Web:
http://jrp.icaap.org/index.php/jrp/about/editorialPolicies#custom1

May I request you to please forward this message to your colleagues
who might be able to take a sponsorship decision on behalf of their
institutions.

Hope to receive your comments and suggestions.
