Subject: RE: [RoHS] Re: The Next Round of Environmental Restrictions: REACH!! Are You Ready?

Dear All,

Definitely I will share all the activities involved in compliance to REACH as well as ELV too as these are now directly linked to IMDS system!

REACH Compliance:
In any compliance, through out supply chain is always involved. As mentioned in previous mail, India suppliers being the non-community manufacturer, We can not directly register & pre-registration period is also over.Hence registration needs to be done through OR-Only representative only for the manufacturers of "PREPARATIONS". i.e. Grease/Oils/elastomeric constituent/Chemical compounds/Paints/coatings etc while Polymers are already exempted under REACH subject to its Monomer Contents (should be less than 2%). Steels have almost no issue.

Prodct manufactured by my company is an "ARTICLE" for which ARTICLE 7 & 33 are applicable.

Main steps involved in compliance & Step-1 to 8 will write in next mail. You also can refer the directive 2006/1907/EC which is 853 pages document. Main steps are
In-house awareness of our TOP Managment, different manufacturing plant (If any as we have 6 manufacturing locations) concerns of "MFG/QA/St. Sourcing/Stores/R&D etc. Supplier/vendor  Summits for awareness./verification of raw materials at supplier end & which is main difficulty as they hesitate to tell their supplier name/ getting information on composition etc.

Pl refer the attachment for your information. I believe this information will be interesting & will be useful to you.

Regards
Sudhir

Dear Sudhir

Its interesting to find your stand on REACh. Interested to know how you carried out Use and Exposure Assessment and any exposure scenarios and Risk Minimization Measures applicable for those components ? What is the method of supply chain communication you followed ? Any software tool you used besides IUCLID5 (Dossier Preparation) ? Were you involved in any SIEF forums ?

Thanks and Regards

Jayakumar

Hi everybody

This is again the Informative mail. I am from India which is Non-community manufacturer country per REACH & almost completed the compliance for said restricted substances mentioned under REACH. Article 7 & Article 33 are related for "Article" manufacturers of automotive components; Our products are not "Preparations" .

Regards
Sudhir Kshirsagar

The European Chemicals Agency published the first set of material restrictions on October 28, 2008. These new restrictions have triggered requirements for fifteen substances identified as Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC's).
