Re: Strange behavior help!

Check the tooth count on the spur gears. IIRC they have differnt counts. If they
do you will have to correct for it.

Funny, when I was answering your question I thought I recalled the RA worm wheel
as being larger than the DEC. When I went to the box of busted DS2K mounts I
compared the Dec and RA wheels and they were the same. So Meade has used two
sizes on the RA. IIRC the last ETX80 I had apart had a larger wheel than the 66
tooth. I haven't bust up a New Gen DS2K yet. Maybe the larger wheel is one of
the "improvements".

I saw the original iOptron mount apart and the worm wheels were provided by the
same supplier.

You now have to post some pics of your work. As the DS drives get scarcer the
DS2K will become a more important source of parts. It was kind of Meade to
design the Dec axle so poorly that there is no shortage of mounts to salvage.
Geo.

Ratio of 1.458334 and DEC ration of 2.52000.

The DS2K motors are the same as the drives used in the ETX60, 70 and 80 refractors. I think they have a different final reduction than the DS motors. So you...
