Several members and their canine of the Ohio Valley Search and Rescue
team recently received National Certifications from last months
testing at Harmony State Park in Posey County Indiana. The National
Association of Search and Rescue has approved seven members of OVSAR
team after a four day testing exercise that included evaluators from
NASAR coming to the Evansville area from South Carolina. These members
where tested in several areas that are required under the FEMA
Resource Typing to meet the (NIMS) National Incident Management System
criteria.

Some of the areas the canine where tested in included finding lost or
missing individuals by searching wilderness areas, tracking and
trailing techniques, and (HRD) human remains detection, formerly
called cadaver canine.
