Just a reminder that this Saturday evening, Oct. 16, Cahokia Mounds is hosting a
free reception to open the new temporary exhibit of photographs entered in our
first, hopefully annual, Photo Contest. We have over 40 entries of black and
white and color prints of any subject that somehow relates to the Indians of
the US and Canada. Many of these are superb images of people, places and
things that you will definitely want to see. The reception is from 6:30 to
9:00 p.m. in the Interpretive Center and there will be wine and cheese. Judges
will make their selections of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in both black
and white and color categories. Prize money will be awarded to the winners. The
public will pick a "People's Choice" award winner. There will also be a silent
auction of everything from donated photographs, a camera, processing coupons,
artwork, restaurant coupons, photography equipment, and more. The photographs
will remain on display through December 12, and many of them are for sale, but
may not be picked up before the end of the show.
If you plan to come to the reception, RSVP to 618-344-7316 so we know how many
to expect. Once again, there is no fee.
