Historic Preservation Intern Summer Positions
Several full-time, temporary Historic Preservation Intern (HPI) positions
will be available this summer with the Historic Preservation Unit of the
Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). The HPI duties will focus
on Phase I, Phase II, or Phase III archaeological investigations, and the
preparation of artifacts and collection for analysis and curation. These
positions require completion of at least one year of college with course
work in anthropology/archaeology, architectural history, historic
preservation, history, cultural geography, or related disciplines.
The MoDOT Historic Preservation Unit is based in Jefferson City. Extensive
overnight travel, using state-owned vehicles, within the state of Missouri
is required. Employees will need to have sufficient funds to cover travel
expenses (meals) until they are reimbursed around the middle of the
following month. Meals and lodging are not reimbursable when working in
and around Jefferson City (MoDOT Central District). Wages will vary from
$9.11 to $12.18 hourly, based on education and experience. The employment
period will be approximately from May through August 2007. Questions can

Drug testing, a physical, and a criminal background checks, all of which
