The San Mateo County Astronomical Society, founded in 1960, offers informative talks and fun education in astronomy to the community, through invitational and outreach programs featuring illustrated presentations and stargazing with telescopes. We are a registered California 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation serving San Mateo County on the San Francisco Peninsula. Monthly meetings are at 7:00 p.m. on the first Friday of each month (except July, August, and January if too near New Year's), in the planetarium beside the Science Building (#36) at the College of San Mateo (click here for campus map, directions and parking). There's available parking on all three levels of the 'Marie Curie' parking lot #5. The meetings feature pizza and conversation in the Integrated Science Center (ISC) at 7:00 pm, followed by a speaker or alternate program in the planetarium starting 8:00 pm. Membership has its benefits for those who formally join our group, but our regular events are free and open to the public. The nearest parking permit machine ($2.00) is in 'Galileo' lot #6 (see 'D' on the campus map), but parking at CSM is FREE to all from noon Fridays through the weekend.
