KARACHI, July 21(Online): An exhibition of paintings by Ali Abbas on the topic of Thar desert began at Chawkandi Art Gallery here the other day.
In this exhibition titled Gard Baad Ali Abbas is exhibiting in mixed media on paper. Thar is fast becoming the favourite topic of artists in the country, specially in Karachi.
Sand is the main emphasis in his works. He has shown life in that desert areas, also depicting sand storms in Thar.
He has shown reality as it exists in the desert of Thar. The real bright coloured dresses of their womenfolk and how they carry on their daily chores is painted in reality.
Initially, Ali Abbas caught the expressions of the desert people and then went on to show situations of their daily life. The exhibition is a good combination of both. Although living in extreme poverty and hardships of the desert, Ali Abbas very well portrays how happily these people live.
The exhibition will continue at Chawkandi Art Gallery till July 27th.
