I think it is a good idea.
 
Generally speaking, it is best to use the oldest available manuscripts.
 
Where there are significant variations, if any, they could be covered in footnotes or appendixes.

The gospels in Sahidica are based on the PPalou Rib mss, except for Matthew, since that ms is not extant. The PPalou date from the 5th Century. Matthew is based on M 569 that dates from the 7th or 8th century.

I am considering doing a feasibility study on using the Scheide Codex, (which I have at hand in Schenke's print edition) to analyze and compare (and possibly correct) the much later 569. Granted it is the Middle-Egyptian dialect, but it also dates from the late 4th or 5th century. It is thus closer to the PPalou mss in time.
