Does anyone know anything about the SEDG AVI format that is proprietary
to Samsung? We're having trouble getting AVI's from the SC-DC164
camcorder to a regular DVD. I've downloaded the
20070419083726031_driver_20070322 from the website for Vista but
Windows Media Player, Quicktime, and DIVX don't play the file
properly. It only plays with Media Player but sound only. I tried
changing the format of the file to DIVX so maybe Virtualdub would see
it but it seems scrambled. The only software that came with the
camcorder was Quicktime but I have a later version installed - hoped
the driver would be seen by it.
The Samsung website has been little help - you can't even find the
camcorder when you search for it. I had to do a Google search to find
it. It seems like I need some program to recognize the codec but I
can't get any to. Thanks.
Hi All,
I personally think the new organic LED (OLED) screen technology is
pretty exciting. The thinness of the screen is unbeatable and the
picture quality is amazing. My only complaint would be you can't mount
the TVs because the thin screen doesn't contain all of the hardware,
which is stored in a base.
What do you think? Is OLED the next big thing in flat TVs, or will
another emerging technology soon surpass it?
Frank,
If your laptop has a VGA output, connecting it to the PC in on your TV would be
the best choice. If not, it depends on what video outputs (if any) your laptop
does have.
At a pinch, there are some USB 2.0 (High Speed) to VGA adaptors that you could
probably use. They wouldn't be ideal for games or other things needing
high-performance graphics, but for general web browsing it should work.

I have a Samsung HL-6189S TV, and was inquiring on how is the best way
to hook up a laptop to it so I can see some things via the web that are
not on TV. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Always perform a COLD START
before applying the hack below. This is an essential step. This hack
can be used on player model v5000 as well.
1. Power on your player as normal. 2. Press and hold both the Play and Forward buttons on the player. 3. After a short while the words "No Disc" should appear from the
onscreen display Release the Play and Forward buttons as soon as you
see the words no disk. 4. First press the "Subtitle", then press the "Repeat" button on your remote control. 5. Using your remote control enter the code below, note that you
must know what Region your player is currently set to in order to know
which code is appropriate:
- Region 1 use [ 2, 9, 3, 3, 4 ] - Region 2 use [ 3, 8, 7, 6, 7 ] - Region 3 use [ 5, 6, 7, 3, 2 ] - Region 4 use [ 7, 6, 8, 8, 4 ] - Region 5 use [ 5, 3, 8, 1, 4 ] - Region 6 use [ 2, 4, 4, 6, 2 ]
6. A code should be displayed at the upper left of the screen showing the current Region setting of your unit. 7. Press the "9" button on your remote control for Region free, or "1" for Region 1. Press "2" for Region 2, and so on. 8. Press the Open button on your player, put a DVD movie. Don't press CLOSE!!! 9. Press the Standby button on your remote control. 10. Press Standby again, and wait untill u see the Samsung Digitall
logo, press the PLAY button, and here you go, your movie should start
now.
Good Morning All,
I want to ask you, i have DVD Bluray samsung. But it's stil make

Thank You before. and thank you for moderatos for Post this email...
I am not using a cable box - the cabe goes directly into the TV Cable
input and I also have a HDUHF antenna connected to the ANT input and
they both fail to set the clock and the clock can not be set manually
either. I enter any digit into the hours and it goes to 1 and can not
be changed.

It seems that the clock / Time signals are incuded with the TV signals
in analog form and the converted Digital signals do not carry the time
signal. So this issue may not be HDMI but a larger one.
I do not know if there is any other way. However, you can add a cable
splitter before the hooking the cable to the cable box and then
additionally connecting the second cable to the ANT input.
Sounds like you have the same clock problem I have - it stopped
working a few months after I got my 26" tv - can't set it manually
or automatically at all.

I connect my TV to teh cable Box via HDMI and when I try to the proper
source to view the USB the TV does not allow me to go further the
TV/ANT option as I do not have cable connected to it. Does any body
have an idea.
I am unable to set the clock when connected to the cable box via HDMI.
The setting work ok if I connect the TV via the cable to the cable
box. Does any body know how to fix it. I had called the cable service
support and they said their system are working fine and it must be TV
problem?
I have a Samsung DVD Player that Upconverts standard DVDs to 1080p
picture (I have a 1080p Samsung TV and the DVD player is connected to
it via a 1080p HDMI cable). My problem is 2 things: 1)It has started
to skip on almost any DVD I put in it; and 2)during motion on some DVDs
horizontal lines will appear in whichever object on the screen is
moving at the time. For example, I was watching Live Free or Die Hard
and when a police car was backing up, a bunch of lines covered the car;
and when a character would move their head, same thing would happen.
This has been happening on several of my movies, yet when I play them
in my PS3 it doesn't happen, the picture is great.
I don't think this is normal....
Anyone know if there is a way to fix it, or should I just return it (if
I can)?

Hello I have a hls4266w ever since new I've had a problem with the
picture. I really don't watch much tv and have just lived with it. But
now with the packers game everyone wants to come over and see this hd
everyone is talking about . TO be honest I am quite embarresd to have
them over I'd actually watch it on my 27" tube tv since the picture is
better. Any way the problem is theres always like grainy moving around
when the picture is still. Now when there is any movement it gets all
blocky and really looks bad . My buddys sony has a setting when your
watching fast motion Does samsung? I've called samsung (Who is
worthless) they tell me to unplug for 5 min then if that does not
work (it does not) call back so I call back get someone different (who
by the way does not know english very well) who then tells me to
unplug for 24 hrs then call back. it turns into a circle with me
unplugging . If any one can tell me how to fix this I'd appreciate it.
Thanks

The truth is that at a reasonable viewing distance it is difficult to see a difference. Consider that there are some HD format DVDs that don't actually output a full 1080p anyway. Also, I'm sure you've watched HD broadcasts that look outstanding. Keep in mind these are all either 1080i (for most HD stations) or 720p for Fox and ABC.
The TV would have to have an output (digital or
analog) which would feed back to the sound system.
Best way though is for a cable or satellite box to
provide the video and audio with its digital output
feeding the sound system.

Hello Sean,
We had a PS3 connected through a new Denon AVR4806 AV
receiver, all with HDMI to a Samsung TV. The picture
flickered badly. We changed the Denon's HDMI mode
(choices are Off, Mode 1 and Mode 2) and solved the
issue.
There is something strange about PS3 HDMI. I'm not
sure the TV has various HDMI modes but check for this.

If you really want the best picture quality possible, a 40" tube model would serve you better. I do not know if any of the CRT-based 40" r/p's are still available. That would also be another good choice.

Hi
The reason for wanting a 40" screen is not cost but
necessity. My space for the screen is only 41" wide,
so I repeat is there a DLP 40" screen available or do
I have to go with a LCD direct view? I have read that
the black/contrast is better on the DLP is better than
a direct view LCD. Please advise.
You can also use a computer to do this. You will need a DVI to HDMI
cable however and a video card with DVI out. The TV will report back
all of its display modes via a standard called EDID. This is the same
way your computer knows what display sizes it can show on your monitor.
There would be very little cost difference between a 56" and a 40" screen with the DLP engine. A direct view LCD screen for the 40" size would be far more cost sensible.

Thanks for your input Louis, I checked with Sumsung for any firmware
updates for the HL-R6157W and they just listed a download for the
user manual. My cableing is all HDMI except for a digital sound out
to my Theater Surround system. So I guess my next step is to borrow a
HD/Blue-Ray player and see what happens, if it works then the problem
is in my iScan vp50 processor which is curent model. Again thanks for
your help. If anyone else is having the same problem please contact
me and I'll try and help sort this problem out.
