I'll do that. It's about time I came to one of these again.
I'll be there by 7:30pm if not sooner. You should be able to tell by the
hat, the camera, and the Tablet PC.

Subject: [SeaFunc] Meeting Wed Nov. 14 at Ralph's grocery
As I will not be able to attend the Nov 14th meeting, I need a volunteer to
show up on time and look out for new people for the first 30 to 60 minutes.
A recent post of a lost person at an eastside meeting seemed to indicate
that the eastside meeting may need a little more organization in this area?
I know, I picked Ralph's twice in a row this time.
Jeff
SeaFunc is Seattle. SeaFunc is functional. Functional language.
Functional PRO-gramming. We shall attempt to adjust your software, as
there is something wrong. You're in a C funk. Get out of your C funk.
The Mothership lands at *8 pm* on Wednesday November 14, at Ralph's
Grocery downtown at 4th and Lenora.
For the uninitiated: Functional programming (FP) is a tradition of
writing and modeling programs as the composition of mathematical
functions. FP is both a collection of specific language features and a
powerful way of thinking and reasoning about computation. Languages
associated with the FP way of thinking include: Lisp, ML, Scheme,
Smalltalk, Haskell and Erlang. Finally, the seeds of many progressive
and ubiquitous features in C++/Java/C# and relatives are modern
renditions of features originally developed by the FP community, including:
- Interactive debuggers
- LINQ in C#
- Unit testing
- Eclipse Intellisense
- Declarative programming
- Generational garbage collection
- Generic programming (popular example: C++ template metaprogramming)
- Dynamic typing
- Domain Specific Languages
Anyone interested in the application, extension or construction of
advanced programming languages - functional or not - is encouraged to
come. We've been meeting every three weeks since June 2004. A typical
showing is 8-10 people. If you think there must be more to life than
C++, Java, and C#, please join us!
