i would put a amp meter instead of first shorting it out,one of the motors or circuit might be bad ,making it burned or pop off this way you can watch the

Michael and Chuck, Thanks I had seen that post, didn't think they were right, but I think you may be right and it is a ferrite bead. I put ohm meter across it

Looks like a ferrite bead, probably keeping motor noise from feeding back into a shared power supply. Your unit will probably work if you just jumper it with a
