Sharon's Natural Gardens -- Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
This list is for members, past and present, of our CSA, as well as those interested in our work. We support the notion that experiencing our foods and garden can help you learn more about important issues in biodynamic, organic gardening; and it will connect you to your food and the earth. We hope to help people reconnect with truly vital, local foods grown in a sustainable way.We are also finally finding some local interest in exploring biodynamics in our region .
Sharon was raised on a farm locally, and Kent(KC) was raised on a dairy farm in upstate NY. We have been working to promote CSA, organic and biodynamic farming /gardening, as well as seed saving here since 1978.Through experience and dedication, we have a lot to teach and share about growing food.
We grow much of our own food. We use open-pollinated seed; many are our own. We are the only biodynamic practicing garden/farm in Delaware. We are "Certified Naturally Grown" an alternative to USDA certification that works better for small diversified farms serving their local communitity.
We have a list for those interested in forming a community supported garden here . It would require work commitment of about 3 hours /week and offer a lot of education as well as the ability to custom grow foods for our members. We can discuss ideas on this group and if there is enough interest, hold a meeting to work out details.
We offered a preferred customer option in 2009 .We may be interested in doing some sort of pre-pay custom ordering option next year as well. At this point, we are not interested in going to farmers markets. It has not been worth the effort last year. Much of our focus will be in expanding our fruit growing plantings for 2010 as well as experimenting with seeds and grains .We also will be fixing up the place and doindg some writing and traveling .
Please do inquire as to your needs and questions . :)
