Sharon's Natural Gardens -- Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
This list is for members, past and present, of our CSA, as well as those interested in our work. This group was founded by Dr Kim Furtado, a Naturopathic Dr who lives on the Sussex coast . We wanted to create a community farm where people could learn how to grow good foods and eat heathy. I support the notion that experiencing our foods and garden can help you learn more about important issues in biodynamic, organic gardening; and it will connect you to your food and the earth. I offer local consultation at your farm or garden .I also have garden tours and classes here on biodynamic gardening ,home winemaking and basketweaving.
Sharon was raised on a farm locally, and Kent(KC-passed away Dec 31 2010 ) was raised on a dairy farm in upstate NY. We have been working to promote CSA, organic and biodynamic farming /gardening, as well as seed saving here since 1978.
I sell food, seeds, plants and farm crafts on our store listing on www.localharvest.org/store/M6681 . I feel that the best certification is to get your own hands in the dirt in your own garden , or next to your farmer, or if you are not ready for that yet, at least join the CSA(Community Supported Agriculture ) or go to the farmers market.
I have changed the group from its earlier focus as a communication tool for my garden , to a forum to discuss agriculture as it affects our lives and what we can do to help ourselves and the wider environment in our own back yards and communities. Some of our members now are from all over the world.
This year ,I will focus on my seed work and doing a better job in the orchard . I will also work on finishing the interior work on the farmhouse. I offer classes, one on one instruction, consultation , plants, seeds , produce, herbs, fruits and flowers as available by appointment.I may also explore doing more basket weaving.Inquire as to your interest.
:)Sharon
