GIS/AutoCAD Specialist
PAL, the leading cultural resource management firm in New England, is
seeking to hire a GIS / AutoCAD Specialist. The GIS/AutoCAD Specialist
is a key member of our report production team and supports our staff of
archaeologists and architectural historians by providing maps and
graphics for use in technical reports.
General responsibilities include:
* utilization of ESRI ArcGIS - ArcEditor, Autodesk Map 3D,
AutoDesk Raster Design, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat Professional and
Microsoft Word for the preparation of maps and graphics for technical
reports.
* tracking and developing PAL's in-house GIS information.
* GIS software troubleshooting
* providing technical assistance and training in GIS, GPS, Total
Station, and cartography to field crew.
* performing routine maintenance/updates on digital survey
equipment.
* product quality control.
The ideal candidate will have some familiarity with archaeology and a
demonstrated work history of using geospatial technologies and AutoCAD
to prepare technical map graphics and will possess the following:
* a technical degree or BA/BS degree in GIS, AutoCAD,
cartography, or a related field.
* strong knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS - ArcEditor 9 or later, XTools
Pro, Autodesk Map 3D 2008, Carlson Survey 2007 (or AutoDesk Land
Desktop) Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat Professional and Microsoft Word.
* familiarity with the operation of Trimble GPS Units, TerraSync
data collection software (or ArcPad), Pathfinder Office 3.1 or later,
and Total Station and data collector survey equipment.
* at least two (2) years experience developing maps and graphics
for technical reports.
* ability to work well with others in a team environment and
appropriately manage time.
The primary work location is the PAL office in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
Some fieldwork may be required to gather data using GPS and Total
Station equipment. For these occasions, the applicant must be able to
travel for brief periods of time and carry survey equipment.
