Chambers Group, Inc, an environmental consulting firm, headquartered in Irvine CA, with branches in Redlands, Bakersfield, San Diego, and Reno NV has an immediate need for a full-time STAFF ARCHAEOLOGIST in the Redlands office.  The primary job responsibilities will include conducting surveys and monitoring projects, supervising crews on testing and data recovery efforts, and report preparation, under the direction of cultural resource project managers.

 

You must be able to demonstrate at least two years field experience in managing in-house support staff and temporary field employees.

Responsibilities:


* Supervision of field crews conducting archaeological fieldwork including survey,

   monitoring, testing and data recovery;
* Participation in technical research and report writing as needed;
* Contribution to and demonstrated ability to lead team efforts during cultural    

   resources field and lab work;
*  Ability to work independently and as a team member;

* Taking initiative, resolving problems, and creating improved procedures to

   assure tasks are completed in the most effective manner;
* Organization and tracking of all field records, and data;
* Communication with Project Managers and GPS/GIS staff through regular,    

   scheduled Project/Field status reports.

Qualifications:


Knowledge and experience with the inventory and evaluation of prehistoric and historic archaeological resources in Southern California is required. Additional experience in the Great Basin would be beneficial for the position. A Bachelor’s Degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field is required, and a Masters Degree a plus. Ability to use GPS data collection, as well as general knowledge of computer hardware, software, and other related information technologies is preferred. Candidates must be able to travel and be able to conduct fieldwork for long hours, in sometimes inclement weather conditions, often in rugged terrain.
