GCI is currently accepting applications for archaeological field
technicians for several projects in Orange County, New York,
Brooklyn, New York & Staten Island, New York. Qualified applicants
will need a minimum of field school experience. Preference is for
applicants who have a B.A. and previous experience in cultural
resource management projects. Wages are from $12 to $14/hour,
depending upon level of experience. Hotel accommodations will be
provided for Orange County project. Per diem is $25.00 for non-local
work.
GCI is also accepting applications for a field director. The
applicant must have a masters degree with RPA or RPA eligible; meet
the Secretary of the Interior Standards (36CFR61) in archaeology; and
possess demonstrated experience in conducting fieldwork.
Responsibilities include directing all aspects of the field project,
insuring quality of fieldwork and paper-related portions. Excellent
communication skills are required, in addition to writing field
portions of reports.
Knowledge of northeastern prehistoric and historic archaeology is
essential, particularly, urban archaeology.
Compensation is commensurant with experience and is negotiable for
the field director position.
