Applied EarthWorks, Inc. seeks a well-qualified, versatile, and hard-working Senior Historical Archaeologist to join the cultural resources team. This is a regular, full-time position. California or West Coast experience preferred. Starting wage depends on qualifications and experience. Job Description: Manage projects and supervise other staff and consultants in the completion of project work which variously includes technical reports and compliance documents (NEPA/CEQA/Section 106). Assist in the development of technical and cost proposals, supervise field and laboratory staff as well as subconsultant analysts, track progress of ongoing project work, coordinate with other project managers regarding staffing and equipment, communicate, coordinate, and act as liaison with the client, write and edit technical reports. Maintains project schedules and budgets and assures technical quality of products and services.
Education/Experience: M.A. or Ph.D. degree in history, historical archaeology or related field required. RPA qualified, certification preferred. Minimum of 5+ years of experience, with progressively increasing responsibility in CRM.
Required Skills: Applicant should have experience directing investigations at historic period sites, performing archival research, preparing technical reports, and have an interest in 19th and 20th century research issues and material culture. Experience in urban archaeology, analysis of historical materials, and use of Harris Matrix recording system desired. Experience with architectural history, and/or HAZWOPER certification a plus. Must have prior supervisory experience, a strong working knowledge of the regulatory setting, and proven written and oral communication skills. Must demonstrate strong work ethic, reliability, good communication skills, ability to manage multiple projects, and function as integral team leader and member.
