Applied EarthWorks, Inc. seeks a well-qualified, versatile, and hard-working Senior Architectural Historian to join the cultural resources team. This is a regular, full-time position. California or West Coast experience preferred. Starting wage depends on qualifications and experience. Job Description: Manage projects and supervise others.  Perform historical research using primary and secondary documentary sources, undertake oral histories, complete photo-documentation according to industry standards, and provide contextual and background overviews for CRM projects. Contribute to proposal and budget preparation, solicit new work, and interface with clients. Record and evaluate historical buildings, structures, and landscapes to current professional standards.  Review design plans relevant to Secretary of Interiors Standards and Guidelines and familiarity with HABS/HAER/HALS documentation standards. Prepare technical and cost proposals and written technical reports of documentary and field research. Project assignments may involve travel.

Education/Experience: M.A. or Ph.D. degree in history, art history, architectural history, historic preservation, or related discipline required. Must demonstrate a minimum of 5+ years of experience, with progressively increasing responsibility in CRM.

Required Skills: Applicant should have experience directing architectural and historical structure surveys and recording and evaluating architectural resources according to National Register of Historic Places criteria. At a minimum, must meet the Secretary of Interior¢s Standards for an Architectural Historian. Must have prior supervisory experience and a strong working knowledge of the regulatory setting, familiarity with archival sources, and proven written and oral communication skills.  Must demonstrate strong work ethic, reliability, good communication skills, ability to manage multiple projects, and function as an integral team leader and member.
