The Illinois Transportation Archaeological Research Program (ITARP), University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is seeking a Visiting Bioarchaeology Collections Specialist in its Champaign offices. This is a supervisory position with responsibilities for the management of human and animal skeletal collections according to established curation standards. The successful candidate must have a Bachelors Degree in archaeology or anthropology, a familiarity with human and animal skeletal anatomy and basic archaeological and skeletal analysis protocol, with state and federal regulations pertaining to skeletal remains, and experience in training and supervision of lab assistants. A working knowledge of Word, Excel, FileMaker, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, EndNote is required. The Visiting BCS position is a full-time, academic professional, one-year position, but is potentially renewable. Salary is negotiable based on experience. Proposed starting date is September 1, 2009 or as soon as possible after the closing date.
