Description

So Cal Astro Photo is a virtual meeting place for amateur astronomers and astrophotographers living in or visiting the southern California area.
Using this group, we can:
  • Get info on dark sky locations and weather
  • Ask equipment and/or processing questions
  • Set up mini star parties
  • Relay information and feedback about local events and retailers
  • Provide viewing, imaging, and sightseeing tips to each other and to those visiting the area
Southern California covers a huge expanse of deserts, mountains, and cities. The defining borders are: the Nevada and Arizona state lines to the east, the Mexican border to the south, the Pacific Ocean to the West, and, generally speaking, Santa Barbara and the southern edge of the Tehachapi Mountains to the north. Within this area, there are dozens of great dark sky locations that accommodate our shared hobby.

Re: Back in the Saddle
Hi Dean, I do shoot mostly from my backyard hence the Deep Sky Filter. I'm in a fairly suburban neighborhood with lots of neighbors and plenty of streetlights.
