Lens?  I suggest you thoroughly learn the capabilities of you 75-300.  With experience here, you can make an intelligent decision about which lens you might need to buy. 

The 500-1000 lens is manual?  It will be a bear to learn how to use.  Tell me, is there some kind of means of selecting an f/stop so you can quickly turn to that pre-set location?  If there is, you will be much better off than if it does not have such a device.  If there is not, then I weep for whoever tries to use this lens for nature shots of animals.

I love my Tamron 18-250mm lens.  It covers a wide variety of things and I use it most of the time.  Does well at all ranges and just a GREAT lens to use!! ...
