Dear group members,

I understand that the producers of SplashID read this group, so I'd
like to bring the following bug to your attention:

When in mode with closed screen (240x320) and any selection by Typ or
Category that results in an empty list, the screen is not updated and
shows crap.

With opened screen (800x352) the rows in the list are not displayed at
all (except the icon).

Further more I'd like to suggest that when only one Typ is selected,
the column titles should not be Field 1... but the field names defined
in the Typ defineition.

Thanks for you help.

Kind regards, Harald

Hi Rob,

Sorry, true sync does not exist for SplashID on Series 60 at this time. We
may develop a real synching solution in the future, and since that could
maybe happen as SplashID 4, it would be a $9.95 upgrade.

I finally got a laptop that can communicate with my E62 and was
greatly disappointed to read the fine print that I can't really sync
the two. This appears to me to mean that I can't update entries both
on the Desktop and on my Phone - something I became accustomed to with
my PalmOS device.

I'm using Bluetooth to transfer files from the Desktop to the phone,
but Importing these is tedious.

Is there a cleaner alternative?

What are the plans for providing real synchronization for the E62? And
will I have to pay another upgrade fee?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Thanks for contacting us. Yes, this is a known issue with the N95
specifically.

Because of the complexity of the certification process for Series 60, it may
be some time before we are able to release an update.

Submit a support request on the issue if you would like to have your email
put on my list to be notified when we release a fix.

Hi Mark,

The 6680 is a Series 60 2nd Edition device, therefore you cannot use the 3rd
Edition version of SplashID.

You need the old one:

I am trying to install Splash ID on a Nokia 6680. When I tried
SplashID.S60-3rd.sis i get an error "File Corrupted" and when I tried
SplashIDS60.SIS I get an error message "Installation security error.
Unable to install".

Any ideas on how to install it?

Hello, I upgraded my ancient Siemens SX1 to much more modern device -
Palm Treo 750v which runs Windows Mobile 5.

Is it possible to upgrade my SplashID license to this device?

(SplashID would be one of the two application which I have used on all
platform - PalmOS, Symbian S60, WM5; Windows, Linux... the other one is
Mobipocket Reader, although it has some problems on Linux - in both
cases the wine is used...)

Thanks a lot!

Hi Nick,

That Send option is only for device to device, not to desktop computers.

To share data with the SplashID desktop, export to vID from the handheld, then use bluetooth outside of SplashID to send the file to the desktop.

Hi Nick,

We may revisit true sync at some point, but that time is not now.

You should be pleased, however, with the recent update in version 3.33. You
can now both import and export on the handheld, enabling you to share data
in both directions with the SplashID desktop, across the cable as you say.

It is a bit of a kludge, but a useful and secure one. :)

Pleeeease implement the sync option; even a kludge which allows
copying the database across the cable would be better than what
exists. I've just switched from a UIQ phone (which has it) to a
Nokia e50 (S60 third edition), which doesn't. S60 is really great
now, (and so is SplashID), but lack of a sync may well push me to
one of the inferior Handy products.

Thanks,
Nick

Siemens SX1, Symbian S60v1.

I was talking about this speed problem in the past and we agreed (I
don't know if it was you personally) that I should use no filtering - no
category etc - to keep the speed reasonable. Of course, in such a case I
see all entries at the same time which makes it necessary to traverse
the list very often. Yes, I can press any key to immediately jump to
that location, but the speed is still not good.

Please take it just as an idea of one of your customer :-)

I started with SplashWallet for PalmOS, now I use SplashID+Photo on
Symbian and maybe this year I will switch to Windows Mobile... I would
be happy to use SplashMoney again, it is a great software and I really
miss it.

And do you plan something new for Symbian S60?
Or even for other platforms?
Porting more applications?
Anything?

I would be very satisfied even with SplashID for Symbian S60 if it would
be a viewer only - I would like to trade writing capability for speed! I
only write data on desktop (running perfectly on wine in linux) and
exporting them to symbian smartphone for reference.

Martin,

Actually, we just released a new version last week. Did you not receive the
forum message?

Here are the release notes:

SplashID 3.33 - February 28, 2007

* Added Export functionality so that users can both import and export data
to vID, which faciiltates sharing data with the SplashID desktop.
* Updated font scaling, which resolves a problem with fonts on the N80
specifically.
* Updated application icon - scales to fit the needs of various screen
sizes.

Download it here:

Hi Jean-François,

Thanks for contacting us.

I have not tested the E62, but it looks great on the E61.

If your columns are not filling the screen, try changing the Show Columns
preferences, which should refresh the screen layout appropriately.

PITA: Just waiting for SplashShopper for Symbian.
There are 2 prgms that make me keep my palm and phone: SplashShopper
and DateBk6.
I have found Papyrus (10% of what DateBk6 can do), but it WILL do (has
to). For SplashShopper I cannot find any good alternative. Please ...
reconsider ...

Hi Everybody,

Sorry it has been so long without an update, but you are going to like this one.

We have added VID and CSV *EXPORT* on the handheld application. That means that
you
can send data both to and FROM the S60 phone. While desktop sync is not
available, this
makes a viable workaround possible by exporting data from the SplashID
Standalone
desktop, sending it the phone (ie. Bluetooth), and then importing it. Then when
you make
changes to the handheld data, you can export that data to VID and send it to the
desktop
and use the Restore command to replace the existing data.

Or you can just use it as backup means for the handheld. Also, you can send vID
files to
others with whom you need to share data. VID is our secure file format that is
encrypted
when you set a password, so it is safe to email passwords, credit cards, etc.

This build also fixes font scaling, which was particularly a problem on the
Nokia N80.

You'll notice that we also implemented a vector based application icon so it
scales to
whatever size the device requires and therefore looks mighty pretty. :)

You can download this new version here:

http://splashdata.com/mobile/download/SplashID.S60-3rd.sis

Or just go to splashdata.com on your mobile browser, and navigate to the
download.

Let us know if you have any problems, and enjoy!

No, you didn't miss it. For one reason or another, it has been continually
delayed. That's why I should never give you release dates. :) We are sorry

This version can import vID files from internal memory or a card. I'd
suggest using the card method as it's easier to navigate to the file.

To import a vID file via the card do the following:

1. Export a vID file from File > Export in SplashID desktop
2. Copy the vID file from SplashID desktop to a memory card
3. Insert the card in your device and choose Import... from the Options
menu. The card is E

If you Bluetooth the file to the device, it'll be in C:\system\Mail\<cryptic
folder name>\<subfolder>\vID file name

I just got a Nokia e62. I have been using spaashid for quite a while
on my desktop and also used to use with Treo.

I just downloaded the spalshid application for symbian and installed
it on my phone. But how would I transfer the data from my spalshId
desktop?

Any help is appreciated

Thanks
-Sundar

Last July I asked if you were addressing the problem with fonts on the
Nokia N80. Your reply implied that you were working on the problem and
would post a notification when it was fixed. To date, I have not seen
a posting which announces your fix to the problem. Did I miss it?

Hi Warren,

Thanks for contacting us. The N93 is a Series 60 3rd Edition device, and we
have separate versions for that:
