Re: [Stellarvue] Re: Best Widefield EP for SV102ED in the 13 to16mm range

Darren, I'm sure you're right - the Pentax are terrific.  I don't like how they
look but that's just shallow nonsense on my part.  I think for an F7scope either
the Nagler 13, Pentax 14 or Ethos 13 would all work very well.  I recommend
buying used or taking advantage of the current lower TV prices if going the TV
route (my preference).  Required eye relief may be a discriminator as you have
pointed out.

Cheers,
Pete

Pete:

I am normally a big Nagler and TV eyepiece fan. I do have some Hyperion long
f.l. EPs [24mm/31mm/36mm] an Optiluxe 40mm, and a Pan 24mm. I do enjoy the views
with the 31 and 36mm Hyperion. Having said this, last summer while out in Blue
Canyon, I did compare the views with my 24mm Pan and my Hyperions with some
Pentaxes. I have to say the Pentaxes are awesome. VERY comfortable [good long
eye relief] and VERY contrasty. They outdid my Hyperions on some of the more
tenuous objects like the Veil in my 90T.

Darren

I have a feeling that a premium widefield eyepiece in this range would really "Rock" in my SV102ED. What would be your favorite choices? I'm thinking Nagler,...

John: Don't overlook the TV 24mm Panoptic. I use it as my seek-and-find eyepiece in my 80mm Nighhawk. I'm on the wait list for an SVR80ED and the Pan should...

Hi Mary, So the Konig works well in the SV102. That's interesting. They are a lot cheaper than the Naglers. Would a Konig work ok for an eyeglasses wearer? ...

John, You should also look at the 13mm and 17mm Baader Hyperion eyepieces if the Naglers are out of your price range. I own the whole set plus the 8-24...
