Nice, what eyepieces do you use? I bought a set of TMB Planetary eyepieces for
mine but find I most often use the Baader 8-24 zoom and add a 2.5X Powermate for
high power. The SV70ED really impresses my with how color free it is even at
high power as your shots show.

Perfect. Just email Shelly. She knows you will be returning this for refund. I
am very interested in evaluating this particular unit.

I will have the latest SFF7-2 flatteners in house in about 2 weeks.

we are going a step further, one telescope at a time to perfect flatteners

90 and 105 optical systems. But it makes a great flattener for any of our f-6 -
f-8 optical systems using 2" focusers. Getting a dedicated flattener for the f-6
refractors will only make it better.

Hello! I'm new to the group and own a SV90TBV. I recently acquired a Pyxis 2"
roatator that I am using with this scope and others for automated imaging. The
rotator consumes ~ 1.5 inch of back-focus. This is not a problem for imaging at
prime focus. However, when I try to image with my WO 0.8x FR/FF in place, I run
out of in-focus travel just before coming to focus.

To make it work, I will have to remove the ~ 5 inch long rear tube section and
add a 3.5 inch long 2" extension tube to my imaging train. I love the FT
focuser that comes with this scope, but I am already seeing a bit of sag in my
heavy prime focus configuration (Pyxis, CFW-9 and ST-8XME). This will only get
worse when I add the extension. I'm also concerned about viginette in the
corners of my CCD chip caused by adding so much length to the 2" diameter tube
in my imaging train along with the sag.

It would really be great if I could get a rear tube section that was 3.5 inches
long instead of the standard 5 inches. I'd be first in line if SV were to offer
such an accessory as a special order they could make the next time standard rear
tubes for the SV90TBV are made.

Just a thought...

Thanks,
Ken

Call Stellarvue. I have a shortened rear tube for my 90T which I use with my
Denkmeier binoviewers to allow me to get three magnifications with the power
switch. It is just black anodized.

Phil,

Thanks for the advice. I just got off the phone after placing my order for the
shortened rear tube. Excellent service on the part of SV. They were very
helpful.

The new tube is 55mm long versus the normal 121mm which means I will still need
an extension, albeit 55mm shorter than it would have otherwise needed to be.

Speaking of signs, check out the picture of the crowds at T.A.C.O. and the

I particularly liked the one that reads "I Drank SV Koolaid!"

First images with a Lunt LS50 filter and the 102ED. Even though the filter
apertures the scope down to 50mm, resolution is still quite amazing. Have long

Congratulations to Don who was the first to email me with his correct Bigfoot
sighting on our events page. You now have a $50 credit on your account good
toward the purchase of any Stellarvue product we sell!

I think it is important to keep the fun in this hobby. Many of the vendors shown
on the events page agree. We were pretty busy so this time we did not get very
many pictures of the outdoor vendor set up. I would have liked more. At least I
was able to get one of the large furry creature that seems to stalk every event
we attend.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I am looking forward to spening some quality
time with my family today and I wish you all the same. Now I have to get off
this laptop before Jan sees me! ;-)

Thanks Larry!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

This thanksgiving
is a VERY special one for our house. My wife had been a triathlete and
marathon runner for years. She had received over a hundred trophies and
qualified twice to run in the Boston Marathon. In the beginning of 2007
she was diagnosed with an extremely rare condition which has no cure.
In the beginning of 2008 she could not even walk.

But! Last
month she ran her first marathon since her diagnosis and is scheduled
to run a second one this weekend - to try to qualify (yet again) for
Boston.

BTW: a marathon is 26.2 miles....

The doctors
are amazed and stated that she is rewriting the books. There have been
three churches praying for her. We are extremely thankful to the
Creator and Provider for his blesssings and healing on this special day
of reflection.

And now one yahoo telescope user group!

I'm sure I speak for the rest of the gang when I say our prayers are with you
and your wife, Preston.

Preston:

Such a miraculous remission is really something to be thankful for. And it is to
be hoped that you will continue to be thankful for it for many years to come.

Amen, Preston. There is no limit to the powers of God and to the rewards of
those who have faith in Him.

Hi Gang!

I went out last night to test my newly-modified NexImage camera on Luna & Jovi.
Pretty good results considering the camera cost < $100, the mods were free, and
the scope used has only an 80mm aperture (SV80ED)! If you're interested in
checking-out the pix, here's the link:

If the link doesn't work, just go to <Files><Astrphotos><Bill H - images>. The
image files are all posted with Nov 26 2009 dating.

Please let me know what you think!

Hey, thanks everyone for your prayers and support!  We leave tomorrow afternoon
for Maryland and Paula will be starting the race at 0900  EST Saturday morning.
She needs to run the 26.2 miles in under 4 hours,5 minutes and 59 seconds to
qualify for Boston in 2011.  And the last two miles are uphill.....

Oh, and I will be taking my SV70 along as a travel scope!  ;-}

Warm Regards,

Preston Smith
Eureka, Pa
