Anybody know how to add code coloring for a file extension?

That is, when I open a file with the extension .cpy, I want the code to be
colored the same
way a .py file is colored.

I sent the Dutch version for both 2.6.1 (March, 6) and 2.6.2 (March,
9) to Martins address, but I did not get an answer, nor do I see them
in the files section of the Yahoo group. I wasn't expecting anything
for 2.6.2 yet, but 2.6.1 could have been one there. Is he on holiday
by any chance? Should I send it to someone else?

I'm there, but as you might imagine, we were quite busy working on
the issues that required the 2.6.2 release. I will upload the 2.6.2
resources later this weekend.

Yes I saw the two releases follow each other very quickly. Thanks for
uploading beforehand. I always try to follow your releases at
shortest notice possible. Releasing if possible the same day you do.
I had already posted notice to some Dutch forums, about the new
versions. Maybe I was a little bit over enthusiastic in this case...

Hi Eric.

Currently there isn't a ui for that yet, but you can add extensions
as follows:
1) Hold down option, go to "Mode/Show in Finder/Python.mode"
2) Navigate to Resources
3) Open ModeSettings.xml in SubEthaEdit
4) Add a line saying "<extension>cpy</extension>" after line 5.
5) Save and select "Mode/Reload Modes"

Try changing the name of the SubEthaEdit file to have a .txt name.  Then run a
spotlight
search and see if that makes any difference.

YES!  I'm excited that a Multi-File Search is in the works.  This is
just about the only feature that I'm having to use a different program
for.  Having the Multi-file Search (open files or directories with
recursion and filter options) along with the Collaboration features
and how smooth SubEthaEdit already is...    would be just about perfect.

I am aware of "see" to open files directly from the shell. Now I need two
functions that go
beyond that, namely:

-- opening a file with the cursor positioned at a specific line

-- setting the cursor to a specific line in an already open file window

As said, from the command line. I guess it can be done with some "osascript"
wizardry, but
alas I am not really fluent in AppleScript (to say the least :.-). Could some
good soul with the
right knowledge give me some support, please?

You can open the file with Applescript and change the line that begins
with "open location"

I have just added a comment tag for the original string and after i copy a new

I was able to accomplish this with a combination of AppleScript and
bash. First, I put this script in /usr/local/bin/seeline (it can go
anywhere in your $PATH, make sure to chmod +x it):

Thanks. I wasn't aware that osascript can take parameters from the
command line. Great. (For this, I was working on a solution with a
"here document" for the applescript and parameter expansion in a bash
script -- now I checked: argument passing is possible since 10.4,
though...).

Thanks for the info. Would you consider such AppleScript
functionality in the future? Background: I use SubEthaEdit as
monitoring device glued into a (Lua) debugger, and being able to make
a currently invisible, but selected line would be useful.

I receive files from clients in word documents on a regular basis and
cut-and-paste the text into html files (which I edit in SubEthaEdit).
  That's great except for the special characters that Word uses like
open and close single and double quotes, ellipses and dashes.

If I use a very basic file encoding (like ASCII) then I am warned
about the special characters and if I insert as-is they are stripped
out.  That's not ideal.  If I use something like Mac OS Roman, they
are pasted into the document, but I have to try to find them and
search-and-replace each one.  Inevitably, I miss one or two (the
dashes are particularly hard), and it adds a round of iteration with
the client (the chars get translated to "?" marks or small squares).

Ideally, I'd like if there was a SubEthaEdit feature that was aware
that there the document special characters that won't translate to the
web, and converts them to their ASCII counterparts en-masse, without
me having to specify them one at a time.  Is there such a feature in
SubEthaEdit or could it be added with a script or plugin or something?

Thanks for your input. In the meantime (until we add a feature that will add
HTML entity
conversion) what you can do is convert the text to ASCII (via the bottom bar or
the format
menu). When you do that and there are still non-ASCII characters in there, the
encoding
doctor will come up showing you all these and then you can change them.

Before you paste the text into the document try running the following
applescript:

    do shell script "
    pbpaste |
    perl -pe 's/([^[:ascii:]])/sprintf(\"&#%03d;\", ord($1))/eg' |
    pbcopy
    "

That should convert all non ascii characters to their character
entity equivalents.

I'd recommend using UnicodeChecker[1] to convert characters to their
HTML entities (and vice versa).
Install it and there will be an entry in "SubEthaEdit/Services"
called Unicode that contains the necessary tools that can be used on
the currently selected text.

Coda uses an other shortcut for invisible character, that in my opinion fits
better to line
numbers shortcut (??L).
