I have been looking into the next 16mm subminiature cameras on my list.
The Rubix/Rubina cameras using 16mm film in cartridges, although some
models take paper backed roll film.

I can't find much information on the Rubix III and the details on the
Inexpensive and deluxe of the early Rubix are confusing. My sample has
a fixed focus lens that can be removed from the body. I assume it is
the deluxe version as the inexpensive version can not have the lens
removed, however the various books that say anything at all indicate
that the deluxe has a focusing lens.
The SCAT

Seems to have two common versions. One with a plate on the "base" near
the lens which covers a slider - and so matches the discription of the
intermediate version. The other has a solid base (no slots or covers)
and so presumably the filters version. The filters supplied with both
cameras are clip on filters, that is, not fixed to or inside the camera.
I can't find any photographs of the first version with a sliding
aperture setting.
Authors seem confused over the negative size and some even claiming
that a Minox 8x11 (9.2mm film) would fit into the early version of the
camera. The frame and the mask next to the negative have the camera
held longest side vertical to give a landscape 10x7mm image; making
this a half-frame 16mm with the common 16mm format being 10x14mm. The
camera uses the perforations to advance the film and as Minox film has
no perforations a camera of this mechanical construction could not use
Minox type film.
If anyone has a SCAT with aperture control or a Rubix III please let
me know so I can update and correct the details I have.
